GR86 Oz Ultraleggera Fitment

They arrived today!! Got to say im chuffed with them!! Love the design and they arent as gold as Race Gold suggests!!

I appreciate that there is a dedicated thread to TPMS Valves but I thought I would share here what I am doing.

I picked up a set of OEM TPMS vales from dealer today and they cost £201.50,
I have to take a picture of each valves unique identifying number and then once tyres are fitted show these to dealer and which corner of the car they are on so they can code them and register the second set....this needs to be booked in for 40 minutes and around a £90 labour cost.
Ive used Kwik Fit mobile 3 times now (December being last time for CC2's) and its always the same chap and he does a good job so Im going to use them again (hopefully next Friday if I can get a day off work) and then I can give him a wheel and valve and I can track what goes where!!

I appreciate this isnt the cheapest route to take but Ive seen some struggles on the other thread and Im aiming to run this through the 100k mile warranty and another 50k on top!! Warranty wise there shouldn't be any issues either as it OEM and Dealer fitted......in theory!!

No daft at all!! My guess of a reply from what Im surmising could well be daft!!

I think that they will code to each corner of the car to register the set, once the set is registered then they can be swapped about corners, so you may well be correct that there is a receiver in each corner.

Im getting wheels fitted Friday but wont get them coded for another a couple of weeks but I will definitely ask the question at dealer.
 
Well....Kwik Fit Mobile were booked for Friday 13.00 to 18.00 to pop a fresh set of PS5's on my shiny new wheels, 4 hours into that 5 hour slot I receive a call to say that they cant make it...havent got the tyres!!
I was of course overjoyed to have taken a days holiday to learn this but was polite and understanding as it wasn't the chap on the phones fault, we agreed on Tuesday 13.00 to 16.00 as I could just about work around that and they refunded my 20 quid booking fee, text and email came through almost simultaneously to ending the call with an all day booking from 08.30 to 18.30!!
I called them back as you do and only had to listen to some shit music for 15 minutes whilst they finished having a crap, a hard level on Angry Birds, warming up a Pot Noodle or whatever they were doing and spoke to another chap who said that the Tuesday booking wasn't on the system at all!!!
We agreed on the earliest available date at my preferred 13.00 to 18.00 slot so I can earn some money to pay for the service that I hadn't received but had actually already paid for!! and that is next Thursday!!

They were neither Kwik, didnt Fit feck all and at least Im still mobile on the stock wheels!!

The wheels came from Italy quicker!! :ROFLMAO:

And you are going to trust them with those wheels? I would ask for hand tools only, no air gun.

It’s a hike for you but those wheels worthy of a trip to somewhere like TyrePoint in Maidstone. [Maybe also get the alignment checked]

Went the OEM sensor route on my GRY; new sensors are not actually coded to the car - each time you switch wheels you need to “wake up” the sensors in the “new” wheels and then carefully follow the steps described in the manual to the get the car to recognise them. 15 seconds to wake each sensor and then a 5 minute drive does the trick - this process required for both original wheels/ sensors and the winter wheels i.e. each time you swap wheels - the GRY has no memory of which sensor is where. Autel scanner to activate sensors was about £40 from memory.
So my advice if it’s not too late - get your Kwik Fit man to activate the sensors for you, he will have a scanner and then folllow steps in the manual.

This is very helpful indeed, and makes a lot of sense from someone who has done it, it does seem hard to believe that Toyota have actually got to input the valve ID, I was advised by Toyota to record an allegedly unique number on the valve which they showed me and 2 of the valves have the same number!! So that was a lot of guess work!! They didnt even know the 86 could register 2 sets!!
Many thanks for this much appreciated insight, booked again for Thursday so lets hope Kwik Fit actually turn up and fit my tyres!!

No worries - I’ve done it three times now so I’ve just about got the knack! The manual does suggest the car will store 2 sets of ids but I think that’s rubbish based on my real world experience.

Received a mail from Kwik Fit this morning saying tried to call which they hadn't!! CouldI call them...which I duly did.
Got some bumbling t**t saying the PS5 isnt in stock locally but have them up north, Suez Canal is blocked so wont get them for 3 weeks...and then hung up on me mid sentence!! :ROFLMAO:
Called back again!! and just asked for my money back please.....made good use of Trustpilot link they sent me a week ago!!

Lesson Learnt..Kwik Fit are shit...Bloody cars gonna need an MOT by the time I get these damn wheels on!! :ROFLMAO:

Consider finding a place that refurbs wheels and offer them 100 quid (or ask for a price) to fit and balance your tyres.
You'd be surprised how much you can save ordering from Camskill.
The fact that they don't have to throw away you old tyres should be a sweetener.

All you need to figure out is how to get 4 wheels and tyres to them in a GR86 🤣

Thats a good shout
The whole reason I went for Mobile fitting is so I can get rid of the old PS4's as well (Done 10k miles and free if anyone wants them and can collect from Essex, probably got another 10k in them, haven't measure tread depth and guessed no-one would want part worn on their pride and joy!!)
Going to go to a reasonably local place now that used to be independent but now Protyre franchise and make a couple of trips to ferry 8 wheels and 12 tyres about!! :ROFLMAO:
 
@byebyeMX5 have you thought about the color of the balancing weights for the wheels? I ended up ordering, and have just received, the OZ Leggera (in gold as well), and I'm trying to figure out if you can get gold weights, or if I should go for black ones, as I think I would notice them too much in silver..

Stortford Performance Tyres? I used to use them when I worked in Stortford and they were always very good. That was a few years ago but hopefully they'll be better than your experience so far!

Can't wait to see the wheels fitted to the car.

These were only 15" for my Alfa, but it's surprising what you can fit in the back of a GR86....

Wasn't one of the design parameters that the Toyota boss wanted was the ability to get 4 wheels in the back so that you could go on track days with a spare set of wheels (also goes in the face of Toyota trying to wriggle out of any warranty claims due to track use lol)

Its is possible to get the OEM wheels and tyres in the back. Its a bit of a battle though.

I put two across the back seat area, with the seat back folded down. Then the third wheel on top of those two and the fourth in the boot. Getting the third wheel on top is the tricky bit. I have done it twice now and have decided that the second wheel in should go on top of the first in, add the third and move the second to be across the first and third in.
