GR86 Ordering

I'm sure it won't make any difference to the release of info, but asking the question on Instagram does put the pressure on.

When are you launching Generation Alpha in the UK. Customers and dealers would like to know. 😢

@grzooforum Ah, I'd have the pleasure of driving one and it's a significant improvement. Finding a dealer who will sell one at MSRP is almost impossible though, I think the GR Corolla will be just as difficult to find.

@toyotauk To remind Toyota UK Media Press release of 2nd December 2021 ā€œEuropean premiere to take place on December 2, 2021, UK sales to commence in spring 2022ā€ Now that Ordering has commenced and already closed in Germany, Poland, Czech & few other European countries. Pls don’t treat your customers in UK like this !

@toyotauk Thank you, it would be really good as a Toyota Hybrid Yaris cross Customer to buy another Toyota vehicle hopefully soon.

They've been saying spring for a while now, and to be fair, spring only officially started March 20th, so I'll give them some slack :ROFLMAO: I reckon early April is when we will hear something officially.

They have strung this along far too long. My excitement has since moved to frustration, Its making me tempted to move away and go for something else.

And Spring doesn’t officially end until June 21st šŸ¤”

TBH a GR model is probably more of a distraction for Toyota than a benefit. I doubt the GR86 won’t help sell any AygoX, bZ4X or a Corolla Cross all out this year, and I’d doubt very much if the GRYaris has had a ā€œHaloā€œ effect on regular Yaris sales šŸ¤”

I think it's been badly managed and promoted. Covid and other issues haven't helped but let's not forget that Toyota UK had these cars on show in the UK at the Festival of Speed last summer. Maybe 20 years ago you could get away with it, but with online brochures in other markets accessible to all and other markets taking delivery for a while I would be frustrated if I wanted to buy one.

The reality is the first cars are likely to be press cars - so it'll be a while before we see customer cars in my opinion.

At least I’ve got time to save up for some fuel šŸ¤”

Well its the first positive message from Toyota I've seen in 2022 so I'll take it! Hopefully we can order and get timelines soon :-)

Toyota France instagram post today - it seems now a car company cannot even share GR86 or let alone advertisement with out mentioning eco message ā€œOn a daily basis, take public transport.ā€

My whole life philosophy is to avoid public transport at all costs so I'll ignore that eco nonsense.

I’m struggling to see a new car alternative at the anticipated price point šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø What were you thinking šŸ¤”

Not alot, I'm just sulking.

Thanks, I pretty sure everyone here understands the concept of a pre-order. No one see's it a securing a car, just a position of being able to to order one at the earliest opportunity to get at the front of the que.

It's so frustrating having to wait, I'm not the most patient person at the best of times!

Seems like this launch is taking forever and the worst bit is you know when you actually get your order in its going to take awhile to arrive .

I've been playing around on the German websites build and think I've finally decided on a colour choice, plus options (like the black decals) and a few other bits. Quite different from what I had initially envisioned.

The constant chorus of we don't have anymore information or 'Coming soon' feels like a kick in the teeth when the Germans are now on next years pre-orders.

On the plus side, my drive way make over and new car port will be finished next week so when, or if, I manage to bag myself a GR86 at least it'll be safe!
