GR86 Ordering

LHD on German plates - surprised a few RHD examples haven't landed yet for Toyota HQ and the Press.
That car could be on loan from Toyota Germany until the RHD examples follow in '24. :p
 
Anyone heard anything?

I'm hoping April will be go go go. New tax year, start of spring. Fingers crossed.

I can't help but feel that the UK is lower down the production allocation due to taking a larger slice of GR Yaris production in the last 18 mths. I know they are built by Subaru in a different factory.

Whatever the reasons, it seems like this car has been around for ages and due a mid-life refresh soon!
 
To be honest, if it is coming later in the year it will probably be 23MY, which I welcome because it will probably have most of the quality issues addressed the 22MY cars had over in Japan and the US.
 
If I was to hazard a guess I'd say its due to UK requiring RHD allocation. Most markets are LHD.

As for "it's not expected to land on UK shores until later this year" well that to me is obvious, we know the current lead times for new cars is long (>6 months) so I'm guessing order books will be opening soon surely?
 
The bit that confuses me mentioning RHD markets, the JDM being RHD so would have thought converting to UK spec would be very easy for a model which is well established in Japan as RHD? Toyota are also big players in Australia (though I have no idea if they are taking the GR there).
If the GRY is so successful in the UK, it would pose a good reason to fast track UK sales as there is a good buyers market?
Im trying to work out if its worth buying something fun to replace the 320d while I wait, but it would be nice to know if rumours of June delivery or end of year are right :)

I actually think that goes against us, if Toyota (Subaru) Japan are struggling to keep up with demand domestically, they will not sacrifice themselves for the small market segment of the UK. Another reason why I feel that being RHD is the contributing factor is because the other RHD market, Australia, have had a confirmed setback announced in November last year;

Fortunately for us they have canned 2022 for Australia first, why them? We will probably never know, but it could be because they aren't affected by EU regulations which are stopping this car being sold over here so we have priority.

Either way, it would be nice to know where we stand, no one likes being left in the dark. I'd rather it be announced that its being delayed to a specified date, then I can lay off until then and like yourself I could buy something as an interim.
 
I highly doubt it would be the base trim, given historically UK cars are normally higher spec than the Euro counterparts. Good example being some BMW models being only available in M Sport trim.
 
I can confirm SmokingPancakes isn't pulling anyone's leg :ROFLMAO: I got a call this morning one trim, manual is £29,995 auto is £32,095. Colours to be confirmed next week. For the price it's got to be the premium version.

EDIT: The dealer has told me 18" wheels, pilot sport 4, adaptive headlights, ultrasuede seats etc. That's premium spec confirmed.

it’s happening folks , press release on 4th April , cars should be arriving around July 🤞😎

For those who pre-ordered via Pete at JRT in Hull he’s currently off work but someone else will be picking up this next week 👍

If it is Premium trim at sub £30k for a 6MT they won’t hang around long , that’s not much above new Fiesta ST money 😎

PS hope they throw in the RHD spec red trim too 😂
