GR86 Ordering

Porsche , BMW and Ford have a similar blue and they all look good 😎
A few years back, I bought an M3 Coupe (last off the production line) in dark grey. 6 months later, I saw one in Baby-Blue and was jealous!

Mine was the 2nd one from the left at a local meet...

Nice. I would be giving them a nudge every now and then so they don't forget about you ;) we will need to be sticking out elbows out to get what we want.

Its going to be a bit of both, its a Subaru triple coat colour from what I've read, there is a lighter crimson red sprayed over a darker layer, the light upper layer reflects more in direct light sunlight and the darker is more prevalent in indirect light. I can see it in my current GT86, in bright full sun its got a very slight orange hue to it and at sunset it looks like a deep red. Its nice but not as nice as the GRY Scarlet Flare or Mazda's Soul Red.
Prominence red which is offered on the Supra is a nice deep sold colour, bRed does look as though it may be lighter, only time will tell. 🤔

Who are your sources Ralf? Where's your insider? Lol.

My car has been on order forever, the order book isnt open yet, it's just pending, so it doesnt change anything at all,(its in, but unconfirmed)
Same case as the GR was, it's (was)a "blind order" .

They are scheduled to have a press Event at the 24hrs of NBR, they e sent out invitations (invite limited due to covid.. I declined as the 24hrs NBR is always so much fuss) , and that's on the 26th of may.. and that's getting close so the cars are on thier way.

Look at it this way, it takes 6 weeks from POD Jpn to POE Belgium, then distribution, final PDI at dealer(call it 8~9 weeks)

Same as in the UK, cars Land, then do PDI, distribution.. I predict the cars coming in by may.

Trick is not to wait, im so glad a ordered the GR Yaris whilst it was still a Stickered up pre-
prod car and got it fairly quickly.
Im attending N24 hopefully will get to see one then.

Update: cars will definatley be available in June! Official order books to open in March!
My dealer also said delivery end of Q2 - which fits! 3 months for production and delivery - so March order book sounds spot on too!

Had a courtesy call from RRG Mac yesterday. No further information for us yet but they are expecting release information imminently.

If we do start getting cars for the end of Q2 that would work perfectly for me. I will be planning a NC500 trip if thats the case :)

Hi All,
Andy introduced me to this forum from the GR86.org and its great seeing some specific UK info :-)
I've had a deposit on a GR Yaris since March 21 and have been told they have no idea actually when that will be delivered (was May 22) - however after a few test drives Im not sure its for me as a daily (replacing a BMW 320d!). The GR86 however is the sort of car I always look for and as per another thread there isnt anything in the market that is fun, N/A, manual, affordable and daily friendly (presuming from the US YouTube reviews its less firm than the Yaris). I've submitted interest with my local dealer but have not heard anything back from them, Im not sure they're used to GR products in the local village customer base ;-)

Anyway, thats a long intro to myself, who is genuinely excited and hopeful the GR86 ticks all the boxes Ive not found elsewhere, choosing the colour is the tough one, definitely want the Premium (+ ducktail), annoyingly I really like the Subaru blue (like the Impreza's of old), but will see what Toyota bring to the UK, I presume as per the US colours, though I do really like the dark metallic red of the GR Yaris...

Look forward to reading more from the experts soon :-)

Simon

Welcome Simon

I‘m glad you’ve found us. Hopefully once the order books officially open the buzz around the GR86 will take off in a similar way to the GRY. Until now GR86.org has been a great source of information , and still is, but we should be able to answer any GR86 related questions on here. Where abouts in the U.K. are you?

Cheers

Andy

@Ralf , do you want to add your name to the pre-order list🤔

Hey guys,
I've also been introduced to the forum by @AndyRC , thanks for the introduction! :)

Just gonna drop in some info I have on the GR86. All my info comes from a dealership that's run by Toyota Tsusho Corporation (dealership is quite unimaginatively called Toyota Tsusho Prague) so it's Toyota's own 1st party dealership. I have a rapport with their sales guy who specializes in their sportier cars (was in contact with him about a Yaris GRMN in the past - that didn't pan out) and I'd say the info is close to 100% reliable.

The trims are gonna be called Dynamic and Executive instead of Standard and Premium, only black interior trim will be available and colors are 1:1 with the ones offered in the US and Japan, albeit under different names. Neptune Blue is Bright Blue and Trueno Blue is Dark Sapphire or something like that.

Price in Czechia has to be taken with a grain of salt if you're from other countries as we pay only 21% VAT and nothing else. No emission, displacement or engine power tax. 35 000€ for Dynamic, 37 900€ for Executive. Base color is Black, all other colors are a 900€ option. No official word on parking sensors (cameras are in all trims) but he says they should be standard in the Executive trim or worst case a 500€ option.

Ordering system opens up on the 21st Feb at 9:00AM CET (he said that should be Europe-wide but was not sure.) First deliveries in late June.

Anyway, can't wait for my "Executive" Neptune Blue 6MT. :)

Hi @Moses and welcome to the Zoo 🙂

Great insight and much appreciated. If the red interior isn’t going to be available that’s a bit of a loss but getting the US paint colours will be a plus.

When we get the specifications released I’ll update this thread with the correct trim names , when you get an order accepted let me know and I’ll add you to the list 👍

Hope you find this forum useful and a friendly place to share all things GR 😎

Hi everyone, as a previous GT86 owner I'm excited and will be after a GR!

However I've been throughly unimpressed by the response of my 2 local dealers,

the first I went in to and was told they had no info and no one available to talk to me. I later phoned and was told prices/demo/orders would be in April.

The second I went in to twice, emailed and on the 3rd visit was able to see someone who said we know nothing - sign up to the Toyota GR mailing list.

I can't get any useful info and am concerned they will all fly off the shelf before I get a chance.

Am I worrying for no reason?

One of them said despite the current GR Yaris buzz, you could stroll in and order one on release no problems, it just got silly later as it went on Top Gear etc.

I'm thinking you need to find another dealership to deal with.....

That’s as much information that’s known. No UK spec has been revealed yet.

Welcome.

Most of the large group dealers are more interested in selling a hybrid Yaris, Corolla, C-HR , RAV etc than a niche GR product.

A few are actually switched on , and will help out With a pre-order , effectively a guaranteed place in the order queue.

Will you be able to walk in and get one easily? I don’t know but I’m not leaving it to Chance 😉 I’d put money on a load of car flippers and influencers sat by their PCs at midnight when order books open and with the global chip shortage and sales in the US etc it could get very interesting supplying a market which won’t exist after 31.12.2023 🤔

Had the same issue with 2 local dealers (Berkshire / Surrey) from the former not returning any messages (even though they still have my GR Yaris deposit) and the latter saying they've no info but will be in touch when they do.

I've gone to the other end of the country to a dealer who is proactive, friendly and aiming to help people get first allocations - hopefully by the time the 'unaware' dealers wake up, everyone who wants a GR has one via other dealers :)
