GR86 Open/close windows using the key

P_20240209_162454.webp

Tried this yesterday, it works

For our German readers :

Go to "Karosserie Steuerung"
Click on "Funktion"
Then click on "Anpassung der Einheiten"
Then scroll down to "Einstellen des P/W ECU"
Then select enable and you're done.

**Most people go from the start screen to the power window ecu then hot personalize..this only allows changes to the boot opening with/w/o the key fob..this misleads one to believe the p/w feature isn't available .. **

Enjoy

View attachment 13032got the windows done, fair play to the jemca Reading that kept on checking. They sent me this screenshot of the change. No luck with the smart door entry
Jemca Bracknell failed for the second time to find this window activation menu. I think I will give Reading a try. Thanks for the screenshot.

Has anyone who uses Techstream failed to get their windows opening and closing on the fob? Jemca has told me that my car doesn't have this option. I'm sceptical but if any Techstream user here has failed then maybe it's possible.

The customisations available are listed in the GR86's Electronic Owners Manual (Pg.382), so I'm at a loss as to why they would state that your car doesn't have this option. There is a precise of where to find the settings in the 'Coding via Service Departments' thread here.
I believe the only issue some have had with personal versions of Techstream was getting it to function, as it requires the executable to be patched to work around a serial number problem. Other than that, it works a treat. I've tweaked settings in my GR86 several times and have even done the same for other people in my area. Honestly, it takes less than 15 minutes to achieve. Is there anybody close-by (with Techstream and a VCI) that could help you out? Dunfermline's a bit far for a meet up methinks! 😆

I should think it is very unlikely that your car doesn't have this option when all ours do!
Usuall dealer BS, don't know their @rse from a hole in the ground...

This is what I am thinking. I even sent them screenshots of the Techstream pages I got from this site to help them. So you've just confirmed what I have been thinking.

After owning a few BMWs I was trying to get this window up/down key fob feature enabled on my new 2024 GR86 Premium.

I didn't attempt to have the dealership to check it, this is all me with TechStream installed on my laptop.

I loaded up the latest version of TechSteam v18.00.008 and it only supported up to the 2023 model (which 2022-2024 should be the same, selected 2023 and went on.)
(a note, the reason why I didn't see 2024 is because TechStream is discontinued, GTS+ replaced it.)

In the options available on TechStream I did not see it.

So under normal customization you have the following:
Active Sound Control -> ON/OFF
Display -> Radio Frequency Settings, Camera Guide Line Settings, Camera Caution Display Settings, Diag Recorder Settings, Air temperature correction
Air Conditioner -> Fresh/Recircle Air Door Auto Mode, Compressor auto mode, Compressor/Intake port DEF linkage, Foot/DEF Automatic Fan Speed increase function, Setting temperature shift, Mode/VentII, Mode/HeatIII, Compressor intake port (psw, lock) linkage, Release Max A/C by Mode Sw
Headlight Control -> SRH Setup Status
Smart Key / Access -> Trunk Open Without Key

And then you have the Body Control Unit Customizing sub menu, there is no other module customizing besides this one. It has a lot of options, a lot of them you can change via the headunit or dash cluster. But I'll list them out for anyone can see what I'm seeing is available.

The "Initial keyless setting" and "Initial button setting" had "-" as their values. If you tried to select them it asked you if it was initialized, so I'm not sure what that was for and didn't want to mess things up.
