Has anyone done a track day on the Brake fluid that comes with the car?

It'll be a few laps per stint of donnington in the winter. The car is only just run in.

Yes - it's fine, especially in winter. But I will be getting upgraded fluid as there is discernible fade after 15 mins or so pushing hard.

I've done a a few days fully stock in the summer and found the pads are the weaker link (pedal stays firm but braking perfomance drops) as opposed to the fluid boiling (pedal goes long). Not bad enough to warrant me doing anything about it until the pads are shot.

Tyres overheating and oil temps getting too high tended to happen before braking issues for me but it'll be massively dependant on your driving style and the circuit (e.g. thruxton barely has any braking zones but lots of lateral load on tyres)

Thanks a lot.

My first ever track day was at Oulton Park in a 6 year old 350Z. After 3 flying laps the pedal went completely to the floor at Druids. I wonder if the fluid had ever been changed.

Since then I always changed the fluid before each track day but I thought with the GR fluid being almost new it would be OK.

I plan on taking it easy. Let's see how long that lasts....

I used to have a 350Z and the GR86 copes better with standard brakes. As above, pads and fluid are a good idea if doing trackdays more seriously, but for a light trackday as you describe it, you might notice some fade, but it won't be drastic. I also think you're being overly cautious changing the fluid every trackday.

That was some time ago. In the 350Z i used to get through moat of a full set of pads each track day at Oulton park. I tried all kinds of pads but i learned the hard way that they couldn't handle 2 full days of running. I figured that while changing the pads I may as well run some extra fluid through the brake lines while i was at it.

That car was a dirty track beater though. I care much more about the GR than to treat it like that :) This track day is more to occupy myself for a few hours between karting and a weekend with some old friends. I just hope it doesn't snow!
