I got some new tyres fitted today. I went for Pilot Sport 5's. Price below, which was the best price for my local area after 5 minutes of searching. 😁

Re. The Pilot Sport 4's, the rears had 2-3mm left on them and the fronts had 3-4mm left on them after 19500 miles. I didn't think that was too bad and my driving is probably 50% cruising on dual carriageways / motorways, 25% A roads and 25% B / minor roads where I tend to have a bit of fun.

I’ll be very happy with 19,500 miles from a set of PS4.

Very interested in your thoughts on the PS5 once you’ve had a chance to evaluate them.

I've done about 700 miles on the PS5's now and I feel that they have a bit more wet weather grip than the PS4's. Difficult to say for sure, as the PS4's were nearing the end of their life, but thinking back to Jan / Feb when those tyres where new, I certainly remember more 'break away' moments when exploring the cars limits. All this is based on wet weather, from damp roads to some truly horrendous conditions over the last few weeks, but I'd say it is more confidence inspiring and has good grip and aquaplaning resistance on the PS5's, so happy with them so far for the conditions that we see on UK roads.

The PS5 has a better energy rating of C versus D, although I haven't noticed any difference in my mpg. I probably need a good dry road on one of my usual routes to know for sure. And the noise rating is apparently 1-2dB(A) more, but I really can't tell. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

@OPC100 How are Pilot Sport 5 now. I’m Thinking of fitting PS5 and putting what life there in in PS4 on to spare wheels for RX8 winter TrackDay.

I'm happy with them. Onto my second set now. I got about 26,000 miles out of the last set, which would suggest that I don't drive like a lunatic. 😁

I don't, but I really don't think I'm captain slow either. πŸ€”

I'd say my driving style is fast and efficient on A and B roads, using momentum and not slowing down much for corners which is about 50% of my driving, where I tend to catch up with most road users and pass if I feel the need. Then 50% dual carriageways and motorways where I just go with the flow. I've never had tyres last this long, so probably a combination of good even tyre wear due to the car being relatively light weight, good weight distribution and RWD and the fact that I'm slower than I think. 🀣🀣🀣

I live in the South and don't venture much further North than the Midlands generally and would say that they have been good for summer / winter driving for me. I've not had any snow since I've had them, hardly any ice, so don't feel I'd ever use / need different tyres in the winter.

I think I'll just stick with them going forwards as I like them and have been very happy with Michelin over the years.

Perfect, thanks. My PS4 have 9000 miles on and will go on nicely to my RX8 for road use. Looking forward to new fresh PS5 on GR.
