Hello all,

New here, today I purchased my first GR86 in Ignition Red!

Based in the Midlands (Wolverhampton to be precise).

You may see it at Caffeine & Machine: The Hill quite often.

Coming out of a 2018 Volvo V60 Polestar, it's quite different, but I am really looking forward to the ownership of this GR86!

Hey - my car before last was the V60 Polestar too - did you have the 6 cylinder or the 4 ?

If I could only stop my good lady hitting stationary and solid objects with vehicles, maybe I could reduce our insurance costs one day 🤦😁

Probably the best car I've ever owned (up until the latest purchase), straight six and sounded wonderful (350bhp and 4WD)

After spending Sunday (collection day) driving it, I quickly decided that it’s not the car for me.

Not that impressed with the ride quality and the gearbox and one of the most uncomfortable cars I’ve ever driven.

So yesterday I handed it back to Toyota, really gutted as I genuinely really wanted to love it, even convinced myself to love it, but it’s just not for me.

What will you replace it with?
 
Some people consider a harsher, stiffer ride as feel and sportiness, while other people considers it just plain uncomfortable. I fall in the former camp myself, but it varies from person to person. It's a shame you didn't jive with it, but that's how it is sometimes.

Would be interesting to hear what you're considering instead!
Would be interesting to hear your take on the GR Yaris. Potentially a bit of a unique perspective coming from someone who didn't like the GR86.

That's fair enough - it's absolutely not a car for everybody.

Depends on your usage too - if you have poor roads/long journeys/want peace and quiet, something else will be more 'fit for purpose'.

At least you've tried the car out and won't be wondering "what if/would I have liked it" in many years to come when there's hardly any for sale and they cost seventy grand*.

Good luck with what you have next - like comrades above have said, be interested to hear what you are considering/will go for! (y)

*This may not happen, the value of your investment may go down as well as up etc. etc.
 
One makes an assumption of the kind of car one expects it to be before it is received and there is certainly an opportunity to carry out a test drive beforehand if you wish to guarantee certainty. It would be interesting to learn what car it is being compared to or what previous cars have been owned.

Each to their own but it is certainly a car for the enthusiast. I think that reading all these rave reviews in advance may skew your opinion.
