Hey folks,

Recently I bought the AR-1's from Nankang for track duty tyre. I've seen their recommended tyre pressure guide hot vs low, but I'm still wondering what would be the optimal hot pressure

Any owners of this particular tyre willing to share the feedback and experience? I was thinking of running around 2.2-2.3 bar pressure (hot) for front and rear, but I wonder if that's not too low?

Regards

I would get the hot temp pressure to around 2.2bar and trial and error from there. There is no 'perfect' pressure, as everyone driving style is different.

Track focused tyres need less pressure than a road tyre on track, as they have stiffer side walls.

I run around 2.1-2.2 Bar on my Bridgestone Potenza Race 225/40 18.

In addition to getting the hot pressure to 2.2 bar ish put a chalk mark on the side of the tyre and see how much is scrubbed off. You want to use as much tread as you can without touching the sidewall. Helps fine tune pressures.

Out of interest, what sort of camber and toe settings are you guys using for track use?

I'm on 3deg at front and 1.5 at rear. But next alignment I will be increasing to 2.25deg at back.

I usually run 24/25psi cold on AR1 (255/35/18)... Then it's at around 32/34ish when hot.

What tyres you are running? 9J or 9,5J?

Thanks and nice tip with the chalk marker, never really thought about it. It will also be beneficial to later on label the tyres to know which one was on what side :)

Hey Guys,
I'm after my second track day with the tyres and tips were spot on. I felt the 33 PSI for this car, weight, is about perfect for hot pressure.
Happy with the performance and grip levels when they warm up. We shall see how long they will last.
Cheers
