Today, while driving "normally" in heavy traffic, I noticed a slight deceleration while maintaining same amount of throttle. Gave it more input, few seconds nothing then it picked up and started accelerating, then deceleration again and repeat.... At low RPMs when I tried accelerating, car started "hicking". Parked near my home and got a "check engine, power reduced, visit dealer" light. Could it be that DTUK cables got wet (it's rain storm outside). Doesn't not feel like mechanical error... I have the DTUK box turned off for the last few days, when I got a call for the ECU update.
Anyway, booked in tomorrow morning for an ECU update, hopefully car will start and make it to the dealer...

When did you refuel? For me this sounds more like you got some bad fuel. If fitted correct, DTUK hardware and harness is as waterproofed as the genuine harness. Anyways, it's a good idea to switch off DTUK for troubleshooting (if any sensor reads incorrect and this wrong signal is altered/amplified from the box).

Bye for now Fred

Car was nearly empty when last filled with fuel, put 100 in it, now at 62%.

I think a lot of people are getting a bit too excited about this ECU update, all cars have been fine for 2 years so would discount you needing this update as the issue.

If you’ve been running a box fine for a certain amount of time then I’d ignore that.

Mine was one of the early cars which regularly got CEL and did have an early WCU update which fixed it. A quick off and on again clears the light. I got to a point I knew how to replicate the fault. Chances are everything’s just coincidental.

Car not running well is not an update issue I'm sure, didn't cross my mind.
Just a bit of luck I was scheduled tomorrow for that update anyway so I don't have to wait longer to see what's wrong.
I'll just check if the DTUK and OEM connections were left exposed to rain after last fiddling with the car, don't think it's the box issue.

I had the same problem with an other car after driving in extreme rain in Scandinavia for some time. I mean the end is near type of rain. The engine felt like it lost 50 HP and boost wasn't coming up at all. I did some investigation and found the air filter was totally wet like I had been driving through high waters. But it seems the water from the rain was going up the intake and prevented so much air from going through, that the ecu completely deactivated the turbo. Therefore it was a NA engine for that day. Let the car dry and changed filter. After some time all was clouds and cream. Maybe you encountered something similar?

I don't think so, power comes off and on suddenly. Car starts choking when on low revs even on slight throttle. While parked in neutral and gave it some throttle, boost gauge moved.

Did you turn off and on?

A few decades ago I experienced something similar soon after refuelling. After that, I read in the news that they found water or similar in the fuel sold by that particular petrol station.

Car was nearly empty when last filled with fuel, put 100 in it, now at 62%.
Did the problem occur soon after refueling? Do you usually get fuel from there or was it a rare occasion or first time you used that station? More importantly, will you visit them again? ;)

If it turns out it was bad fuel and you need it taken out of your tank, ensure it is done with great care and attention, as I believe the GRY has a special system in the tank to ensure continual supply of fuel even at times when there isn't much fuel in the tank and G-forces are significant.

I'd even be tempted to have the car transported, instead of driven, to Toyota.

I hope you get it all sorted soon.

The car started with cel on. Drove it slowly to the dealer. As if cel wasnt bad enough I got a replacement hybrid car. Oh the horror...

Something more going on there then if starting with the light.

GR is back!
Had a code P00CF62 (Barometric Pressure - Turbocharger/Supercharger Boost Sensor "A" Signal Compare Failure). After clear, all seems to work ok.
It seems Hel's scoop didn't pass my ECU trial period lol. Have it for few weeks and now ECU decided it doesn't like the lack of flap...
Gonna install back OEM flap mechanism just to hang in there somewhere.

Took my flap completely away too (while installing a Forge intake scoop) so it may happen I get that infamous CEL also.
Do you think that plugging-in the solenoid to the electric connector keeps everything happy? Fingers-crossed :)

Toyota mechanics advised to do so, I hope it will fix the issue. Should be done on Friday, will report if CEL appears again after that.
