Er, is it?
Seems to be similar to the G16E-GTS GR 86 in that it's still a development mule, albeit easier to get to production. This forum should be plenty of evidence that an exhaust that can manage 296bhp is possible.

It will be nice to gawk at as a 'definitive model' if it becomes reality & implies Toyota have a more long term vision for this platform than I expected but GR tax + Morizo tax must be steep. Especially when the aftermarket is already doing more power for a few grand & will be able to buy the pistons, etc.
 
Ready to buy around 2030? Some people still waiting for the first GR Yaris version. Too much blabla from Toyota...
 
Forgetting the price and whether this model will ever happen, I wonder whether the 296 BHP is possible for UK spec cars, given the 'standard' is 257. I know it's possible with an aftermarket tune, or box.
 
Is autocar a reliable source? I can’t find the article published by any other mainstream car sites

It's an obvious shortcoming that our cars have major shortcomings in the gearbox department, the very minimum should have been a 7 speed sequential with at least 3 upshifts to 60 and service every 2000 miles. Just look at what competitor competition cars offer ;)

Seriously, if this Morizo comes it will almost certainly be JDM only, perhaps if you are lucky, maybe a few RHD markets.

Ditto, likely only available on the Japan only pay monthly plan through which the existing special JDM model is supplied.
 
The same magazine did the "will it drift" video (the amount of second hand embarrasment is high with this one) and now they're saying the gearbox is a known weak spot. Is this a legit magazine or just trolls? :LOL:
 
If it was a VAG group car it would be the second coming and yes they would get it to drift too even if they have to put it on roller skates.
 
Thought there was already a " Morizio Selection Model" in Japan that had some power upgrades etc. Sure, it became available to order/rent just last month.

What you're thinking about is a Morizo customisation pack - you can go to a certain type of dealership and they will collect data via trackday or give you a bunch of presets on a menu to choose from. It's a remap + drivetrain map + some interior bits, only a bit extra torque though

It is but only became available to order in Japan at the end of last month. Wondered if media maybe miss interpreted this release. Lots get messed up and exaggerated by media. Think it included a few other changes which were mainly cosmetic including different coloured stitching in seats, different coloured springs and Morizio signature on windscreen.
