Having put a few thousand km on the SportContact 7 I had fitted a month ago, it’s an unequivocal thumbs up from me.

The turn-in is that little bit crisper, you feel the front axle more and that just gives greater confidence. I was waiting a bit to ensure it wasn’t just that ‘new tyre’ effect, but driving on roads I know well near my house I’m finding myself constantly surprised at the added pointiness.

I never thought the Michelins were lacking too much in that regard - the ultimate grip was certainly there - but in terms of feel it’s a clear advantage to the Continentals.

The rest of the dynamics seem on par with the Michelins, so as long as they don’t wear at twice the rate then considering the price advantage (30-40% cheaper!) it’s clear what I'm buying in future.

Thanks for the review and good to hear. How do you find the ride and road noise? Much different?

Only have them on the front, but I have not noticed any appreciable difference, no.

The wear is the only thing that is holding me back. Past experience is they get to 3.5mm and the grip drops away and they wear faster. Michelins grip to our 1.6mm limit and sometimes a bit beyond if you keep the heat in them. I have new wheels due soon so do want to try something else.

I've done around 12k miles on my set so far, down to maybe 2.5mm left on the rear, so really in need of changing very soon, but still no real obvious drop off in grip. I actually wish there was, as I'd prefer a little more fun.

That sounds about what I'd normally get from a tyre so good to hear.

not sure what prices are like outside UK, but I went for SC7s for £80 a tyre after discount as opposed to £140 for the PS4S 2 months ago, actually just checked the Michelins and they're now £154 on blackcircles per tyre, yikes

That's similar mileage to me. I struggled to find them last set so kept to PS5 which I find fine. I'll start looking for when my wheels arrive.

Pilot Super Sport are an older tyre still made for BMW in our size. They have more initial response than PS4S but a little less overall grip and cheaper.

Old tyre but very advanced, and expensive to make, carcas. I found them to have amazing feel at lower pressures on another platform, however wet grip is definitely 'old school' which might be either a big disadvantage, or an advantage ;)

I’m curious on the CSC7, but based on others reviews and how long the PS4s last, I wouldn’t be surprised if they last 40%-50% less than the Michelins.

I've had the CSC7 and will hapilly have them again.

A few factors contributing to the CSC7 not lasting as long as the PS4S may be that many of us used the CSC7 with more aggressive geo settings and that with the CSC7 you start with a lower tread depth anyway.

My CSC7 didn't last 40%-50% less than the PS4S, though; the difference in longevity wasn't that significant. The difference in price was! The CSC7 is a better tyre and more suited to the GRY, at a much lower price than the PS4S, at least in the UK.

And then there's the issue with the availability of the PS4S...

After the PS4S I gave the Yokohama V107 a try and found them capable but too hard for me.
I’ve now swapped them out for the CSC7 and absolutely loving the car again, comfortable and grippy in all conditions.

Excellent tyres at an even better price.

My PS4S tyres are needing replacement and I just checked on Black Circles and they are £198!!!

Hello everyone, I'm going to use my new wheels (white OZ Superturismo Evoluzione WRC) on my Mk2 once Winter season ends, and I need to mount some new tires on them.
By checking this thread it looks like it's quite a given going for the CSC7.

Is it still like that, or is there on the market any new entry to be considered?
Thank you in advance! :)

I am over the V601 Yokohamas. I would like to try the CSC7s but only sold here officially in 245/40. Anyone running 245s on an 8" wheel? Otherwise it will be AD09s in 235/40.
