The dipped headlights are spot on (pardon the pun) in my opinion in terms of their brightness. But when "giving it some beans" on a dark country lane, I don't think the main beams quite deliver. Probably more than good enough for the standard Yaris (did you know the headlights are one of only four things on the exterior of the GRY that are shared with the standard Yaris? Can't believe more reviews didn't mention this), but when you're doing 'around 60mph' they could do with a bit more oomph.

What are options in the UK? What's legal, what's not legal - they would only be one when the main beam is on, not all the time with the dipped headlights.

I agree. I have nothing to add but I'm keen to know what the options are. Those light bars look good but may restrict airflow to the radiators so might not be the best idea. Oh, it's TMWTS by the way 👋

Unless doing summer trackdays, I don't think you'll notice any loss of cooling. The Lazer Linear Elite 18 bar is very low profile and sits behind the grille opening, and there is plenty of space for the air to move over the light bar.
If you're going through the trouble, might as well do it properly?

I have a ST8 Evolution waiting to go in, not as powerfull and bit larger frontal area, but 90 degree wide secondary beam helps for tight turns in complete darkness...

I fancy some spotlights but mostly just because they look cool. I don’t find the lights lacking, but then I had a vx220 which was like driving by candle light. Eat more carrots 😂

Yeah, if running cheap china lights, the canbus solution can easily cost more than the lamps...

I might have an easy solution but not cheap, will update when I eventually get to it...

So this is about 600 squidley didleys plus installation with canbus module and lightbar? I was thinking of doing it but parts pricing has come in around $1100 for the single bar...

Will the lightbar work with the cars own automatic lights? Turning on and off with the other lamps?

Also: Is there any solutions with the stock headlights? Like stronger bulb or something? Would preferably keep the stock look and avoid the lightbar

It’s a sealed LED unit. Only thing that’s possible is to change to the standard Yaris halogen projectors and fit some super bright bulbs. I don’t know if they’ll be brighter than the LED’s though. The Aussie AP4 rally car runs the projectors, though I’m unsure of their reasoning.

Depends, you need a device that reads the CAN signals, automatic signal isn't the same as the high beam signal. I have a XBB power unit and dongle, very easy wireless solution (@Coastliner) working of the OBD port, but it only works on when manually switching to half beam and then using the stalk for highbeam. For me that is an advantage as I get to decide myself if I want the lightbar on or not together with highbeams.

Some people have exchanged foglights with stronger beams, but personally not a fan because:
- not approved and in Sweden will fail MOT
- It might be bright but light pattern?
- too low placement to get a good light pattern in hilly surroundings.

You can mount a blacked out lightbar behind the upper grille, discrete.

Auto highbeam button works well for me and makes the road ahead a lot brighter! (y)
But I suppose you want an all rounder which is fair. I bet they'll be more choice as time goes on... :)
