Hello all,
Been lurking on the forum for ages, picking up loads of great tips and info (Thanks!), here's my '86.
Ordered 9th June '23, collected 4th Sept. Currently sitting at 1690 miles.
It's a fabulous drive, my first sports car, a real change from my daily 2015 Landrover Defender and the various 4x4s I've had for the past 30 years.

It was bought with the intention of touring in the Alps, previously done with rental cars, maybe starting 2024. It’s so far been on day trips to the Dales, Lakes, North Yorks Moors, and a great week in Mid and North Wales covering 950miles. Scotland is another favourite place to tour and it will certainly be going on ferries at some point.

It's good to finally introduce myself and the car. :)
Happy motoring!

Nice to see someone else in the same county on here . . .
Is Hurworth in County Durham now? It was Cleveland when I was born in Stockton (well, at North Tees), had been North Yorkshire just before that, became Teesside for a while and now seems to be split between North Yorks and Durham.....

Nice car OP - great colour choice

The Tees is the border for this bit, so down towards Croft (2 miles) and you're into North Yorkshire. It's all unity authorities and ceremonial counties now.
I just say Teesside (originally from M'bro and work in Thornaby)

Thanks. I do like your Electric Blue one.(y)
Electric/Neptune was my first choice, having watched all the Everyday Driver videos. After 18 months waiting, thinking it wasn't going to happen, I was just pleased to get one regardless of the colour.
Stoneacre in Darlington did the handover and it will probably go there for servicing.

I used to live further up the Tees valley a while ago, where they still hadn't forgiven being moved from Yorkshire to Durham.
The pub used to claim independence every year on 1st August ....🤣

Congrats! I'll keep my eye out as I'm in Co Durham as well.

Long overdue update.

The car is currently at 12,000 miles, hasn't had any problems. Use has mostly been touring trips UK and Europe, and fine weather days out. The odd run out in the winter, if it's not too wet and cold. I still love driving it and hope to for a long while yet.

The biggest changes made were sound deadening, changing all of the speakers and adding a Puzu amp, unplugging the ASC fake exhaust sound. This was all to make long distance touring more enjoyable.
The audio system is now at an acceptable standard. Occasionally I think about adding a subwoofer, but space in the boot is more important. I would really like to try coaxial speakers in the top of the dash, that would ideally require a 6 channel DSP amp to set it all up. Maybe a Puzu C31S, if it ever happens.
I suspect further changes would give diminishing returns, so keep putting off doing anything audio wise.

Wheels and Tyres. I hate black wheels, especially matt black, no details show up and they never look great. Recoating the wheels silver will happen when the tyres are due for a change, only another year or so to go.
Tyres, the original PS4 have been ok for touring but very noisy on some (poor) UK roads. They'll be changed for something a bit quieter. I run all season, year round tyres on the other cars but the GR sees so little winter use it will stay with 'summer' tyres.

The GR is doing everything expected of it and would be usable every day. No other car grabs my attention that's affordable.
Another Euro trip is in the planning for later this year, the French Alps and Route Napoleon.
It's staying. So looking to the future, some underbody wax be the next job, over the coming weeks, to try and keep it in good order.

I have added OEM SUB and does not take much space and is something i really wanted to do also sounds good would say take 3/5 hours to do yourself but worth it.

The sound deadening is blessing including top part of boot makes difference .

Tyre wise been reading online better option out there just google it mine are the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 and they are somewhat quiet and budget ish and they hold really good in dry and wet

Changed the OEM speakers to the recommended Focal units, along with some deadening in the doors and a bit on the boot floor

Wheel colour change was one of the first things I did when I got a set of winter wheels & tyres (incidentally for sale on here!) Now shed in Continental 225 profile tyres. Much better and quieter too.
I'm on just over 25k miles, but I'm no longer commuting so it won't increase like it used to.

Took a trip over to Hardknott & Wrynose passes the first decent day of the year and it was excellent - need to try it again with the summer rubber on

Your sub does look a very neat fit and being an official Toyota part everything should fit well.
It was interesting to see the Kicker remote plugs in for level adjustment on the fly. That's definitely needed with a GR86 headunit, the bass level varies quite a bit with the volume.

The GY F1 AS-6 has had some very good feedback on here, often at an amazing price. It's on my list, but will see what's around when the time comes.

Bronze or Gold wheels look great with Neptune/Electric blue. The silver wheels look better too. (y)

Yes, good to see the weather picking up for drives out. :)
