GR86 Listers Coventry - first service booking availability (or lack of)

Whilst I'm fretting about carefully considering these important administrative matters (servicing, breakdown cover etc.), I am reminded of the 'Data Communication Module Activation' recall letter I had back in (for shame) January which I have cheerfully ignored.

Does anyone, er, recall what happened with this malarkey?

(I tried to search the forum to ask on the existing thread(s), but searching for 'module' = loads of posts about auto folding mirrors; "recall" = stuff about missing alarms and remembering stuff; "communication" = well you can guess that one re. Toyota!)

I took my car back in for it, they said they did it when they fitted my mud flaps, but the DVLA still think it needs a recall. I think it probably has been done, but who knows...

Cheers Nick - I'll mention it when I book the service, wherever that ends up being!

No, I didn't get that, which is why I called.
Great if you managed to get it booked in, but after my conversation with someone on the service team there, I'd just give them a quick call to double check it's definitely booked in.
Maybe they are providing some sort of reverse-Porsche approach to customer service - you buy TWO excellent GR products from them and they ignore you! ;)

It's obvious Listers Coventry has outgrown their site, but there doesn't seem to be any plans for them to move, so I can't see the availability getting better any time soon. Unfortunately, since demand outstrips supply, they're not going to give the best service either. They failed to complete the PDI properly on my car, leaving the sill plugs in the glovebox. After my bad experiences with Listers VW and Seat as well, I can't say the group fills me with confidence. They need a good shake up.

Still showing as outstanding. 285 cars affected, according to the overlords:

Looking at the description of the recall in question that has to be somewhere near the pointy end of things I couldn’t give a flying F*** about 😅
Yeah I'm with you on that brother.

The only reason I thought of it was because I'd bundled the recall letter in with my service plan paperwork which I'd dug out earlier!

It’s a fair point and probably a helpful reminder to keep an eye on any recalls that may be published. Particularly relevant for those of us who are currently agonising over whether to have servicing work carried out at non franchise garages rather than official Toyota dealerships. 👍🏻

I've had an (automated, once assumes) email from Listers Coventry today, advising me that it's "nearly time" for my service, and providing a phone number and hyperlink to book said service in.

I am slightly confused by the line "We really miss looking after you and your Toyota" in the email - give me a chance!

BIt needy and desperate, that. Wouldn't get past a third date.

I've had both the service manager and sales chap I dealt with ring me separately today to book my service in, so they obviously have some availability now.

(I'm holding off until I know my work commitments early next week before booking for two/three weeks time - Listers were fine with this and even promised to ring me back next week to confirm.)

I think I saw on another thread @Nick - you are having your service this weekend - hope it goes well.

Seems strange I spoke to Listers today and they couldn't do until January so off to Stratford instead

What were the sill plugs and where do they go? I seem to recall something was also in my glovebox which I’ve ignored - and it’s probably those (also from Cov!).

Managed to book mine in with Parks Inverness for the 18th December this morning.

I also have that "Outstanding" recall but dealer principle emailed me a copy of the work done at PDI and the recall was carried out. I would like to know how to get it unlinked from my numberplate though, also want to query the new recall which ive heard nothing about.

The plugs fill a hole near the rear tyre on each side. I'm pretty sure they're tie-down points for when they ship the cars. If they're not filled then you'll probably get rust.

What with the limited service slot availability, my work pattern, me being away over the festive period, the apparent paucity of oil filters, and my modest mileage (less than 2.8k!) I've come to a mutual arrangement with Listers Coventry to have my service done early in the new year.

I've just had a call from Toyota Stratford, same issue with the oil filters on back order. Was going to go in tomorrow, now going in for the 20th (in anticipation thats when its going to arrive).

As someone else said earlier, how did Toyota manage to mess this up so badly, all these cars needing a service suddenly out of the blue that they weren't expecting, what a joke. They really are trashing their own reputation bit by bit, missing parking sensors, alarms, dodgy sales tactics, poor customer services, etc, etc.

I’ve just checked mine again on the dvla website https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/ and it’s no longer showing this needs doing. Either it’s just a coincidence that it’s eventually been updated, or the dealer did something about it after I mentioned it when mine recently went in for its service.
