GR Yaris Keeping original BBS wheels?

I was at my Toya dealer today and he told me, the BBS wheels are listed for whooping doopy 3000 EUR in Germany. I knew they are expensive, but this...? 12000 a set is like putting up a sign for thief's "torque wrench? free bucks!"
 
50% of the year on stock wheels, 50% on winter wheels.

Toyota have crazy RRP on all their wheels, doesn't mean they are worth that amount, but then how do you define what something is worth? I'd never get rid of mine though, originality is so important with a car like this.

Do people still steal alloy wheels? I'm more worried about them taking the whole car :D

No wheel is worth 3000. Imo. But when I scratch them or they are stolen, it's a big hit the the cars value. I am planning the GRY also as an sort of investment. I want to keep it as clear as possible. Only bolt on modifications. Time will tell.

I am planning to use braids as winter wheels and want to keep the OEM for the summer. They look to good to put them in the save.
 
Use most the time for me, just have some alternatives for winter with all season tyres on.
 
My justification for buying a fun/silly set of winter wheels is that it's not just half the mileage wear and tear on the BBS, but they are also missing the worst half of the year in terms of salt, potholes, etc too.

I'm actually toying with the idea of trying silver plasti dip on the BBS for a harmless fun temporary colour change, that would also protect them a bit. Depends whether I could get a half decent silver finish on them though.
 
Do you have any experience with the toyota ceramic coating for wheels and paint? Is it worth it for keeping good shape?
 
I intend keeping the car for a long time and am not really bothered about the originality (I don't even think the BBS wheels look that great - sacrilege, I know!) so selling them seems like it would easily pay for two sets of broadly comparable wheels, weight wise, plus my initial set of winter tyres.

Have to at least consider it.
 
People are saying it's approx £6000 for a set of oem circuit pack wheels retail (which is true).... But look at the sets for sale near brand new for 4/5 k.... They ain't selling.

I think a few people at the beginning (me included) panic bought and snapped up a spare set, some at sillier prices than others. There definitely doesn't seem to be a constant stream of people willing to spend £4k plus for a set now though.

FWIW I got mine for £3,400 including PS4S tyres and TPMS. It was the absolute limit of what I would have paid, but I think at that price if I need to I could maybe move them on without losing anything, or much. Seeing plenty struggling to sell around £1k a wheel with no tyres.

No idea about Toyota, but Gtechniq C5 is not expensive and makes the wheels a lot easier to clean. Tried Gyeon Rim on my winters and it seems much the same. Would definitely recommend either, because there's so much brake dust you don't really want it to start eating into the paint.

Who is going to buy them? All owners got a set with the car!

They aren't old enough for enough sets to have got lost over the years that someone is buying and trying to restore a GR to original, and anyone with damage is likely getting new OEM ones on insurance anyway, not buying 2nd hand.
 
Tegiwa imports has one wheel listed for 1600 pounds. One in stock 😀

Heard from a dealer many bought the GRY without Circuit / High performance and are trying to buy the wheels now... 🤔 the upgrade in Germany costs about 4.500 EUR. For the wheels, LSDs, red brakes and sportier suspension. Why on earth would I spend 6k 10k what ever to just buy the wheels than? Seems odd.

You can try, UK and Germany are a bit different though.
 
I don't now about UK but in Germany the wheels are exceptional expansive... you are not getting any online. And as I said. The dealer told me its 2-3k EACH, with tire though. So I'd say, definitely you will be able to sell them at reasonably price.
