Event Japfest Silverstone 10th April 2022

hear hear - great event and a smashing group of people. Very much looking forward to the next one (where I shall ensure I bring a packed lunch - what was with the queues!)

Ps - I'll get the pics off the camera and give a slight polish before dropping all a link
I managed to get in early for a (very expensive) cup of coffee, but then as soon as the gates were opened the queues for food were indeed ridiculous. That was the only downside to the day for me though.

Although we could have done with a bit of wind for the drifting, after car no.1 all you could see was tyre smoke :ROFLMAO:

One of the food stands I noticed was £3.60 for some chips & £8.60 for Sausage & Chips! £5 extra for a sausage. 🌭 :ROFLMAO:

First brew in the new mug 😬

Thank you All for a Fab Weekend.
We really enjoyed meeting you all and it's the first long drive in the GR.
We got home about midnight and I am tired (Getting Old)!

5 miles after we left, we had a Silver BMW 335D on the inside lane, goading us on for a Race and kept accelerating up the inside. I stayed at the speed limit.

100 Metres later, there were 5 unmarked Police Cars that had pulled several over and the BMW guy was part of the plain Clothes Police Team.

A bit sneaky if they are trying to encourage people to speed.

Anyway, I hope you all got home safely and looking forward to the next catch up.

Cheers
Mike

There were 2 camera vans within the first few miles heading North too.

😳 Actually, Sticky, if you got pinged, they would probably rip the ticket up.
They would have thought they had got the Registration Number wrong. You can't have rust on a GR Yaris, they are too new. 🥳

Great Castrol Wrap BTW. 😎

Was great to meet you and your son, Mike. Enjoyed our chat in the bar. That is really not on for the police to do that. I've been going to Japfest for years and always take it very easy on the way out as though it can look like there aren't many police about, they are in fact every where . Waze always comes in handy for the notifications, but I just keep well under the limit all the way to the M1.

There are quite a few of us in this batch of anyone wants to see themselves arriving?

Bit rich for me so I bought the low res social media download version of mine for £1.

Hi Everyone,

I had a great day and first ever visit to Japfest for me and my friend Chris.

I met Chris at 6:30am Godstone Shell Petrol station and had a good drive up arriving at 8:30am with a short stop for a Mac Donalds. Bit of a queue to get in but its not so bad when you are surrounded by Evo's, Impreza's, Sky lines & more .

We parked up on the 2nd row nose facing the road so to speak & were soon joined by others. GR04 GTO parked next to me & David from Wales was on the opposite side. Very good to meet you both.

Huge thanks to Chris (@GR-Admin ), his wife and everyone else who made it happen. I think it was a really good turn out for GR's but also the whole event seemed to be really well attended. Totally lucked out too with the weather and now looking rather tanned!

It was great seeing such a huge variety of cars at the show and of course the drifting was impressive when you could actually see the cars going past due to the tyre smoke!

Only disappointment were the queues for the food. Next year I'm taking fold up chairs and a picnic with me and some sun tan cream :ROFLMAO:

I think we counted around 35 GR's give or take dotted around the show.

I saw @Sticky new wrap which looked fantastic as well as the Black Swift Performance GR with gold wheels which looked very tasty indeed ! Shame I didn't get a chance to speak to either owner.

I guess there will always be a next time. Here's a few pictures from the day.

Heres some of my pictures.

Cheers,

Damien

Good to see the Autofinesse car again, last time was at Brands Hatch in Feb. He still had a lot of track day stickers on his windscreen.

Great post and good to meet you too! Found out you’d been telling Naomi that I really need an Eventuri on mine, so thanks for laying the groundwork for me. Hope you didn’t mention the price? 😆

Good to meet you Mr J.

The Eventuri whilst expensive is so worth the money and sounds great!

I didn't know your other half was called Naomi. My daughter is called Naomi. Small World! 😁

I am sure she will approve this next purchase!

All the best,

D.
