GR86 Interior scratch

I'll start by saying I'm irrationally OCD about my cars, I accept they get dirty (very dirty living in south Oxfordshire) but they'll clean up. I absolutely hate marks and scratches, especially on the interior... especially when caused by passengers!

I'm still sub 500 miles, and had only two people as passengers, - less than 5 rides and I noticed this.

Having supressed my intense omnidirectional rage for long enough to post, has anyone else picked any any scratches on the incredibly fragile and scratchy dash plastics, and if so have you found any way if making them less obvious before I consider a "smart repair"? (Which makes my blood itch on a monthish old car!)

I'm off to go and rock in the corner and mumble things to myself...Thanks!

Honestly, it's not that big of a deal. The plastics are rather cheap on this car, so this will keep happening.

It doesn't even look like a scratch from the picture. Have you tried cleaning it with some diluted APC and a boar brush? That may do the trick.

Otherwise, there are black plastic restorers that you could use to dye it back to its black finish.
 
Have you actually tried anything on it yet?

I had a couple of marks like that which I rubbed off with a microfibre cloth
 
I use Carpro Perl (diluted at ratio for interior plastic) and a microfibre cloth. Lubricated magic ‘melamine’ sponge might work but beware, as they can be quite abrasive if used forcefully.
 
I dealt with a similar mark on my Up GTI’s interior plastic by dabbing some black leather dye on carefully with a cotton bud, then wiping it with a microfibre cloth to blend it. Over several applications you can build up the colour so it renders the mark invisible.

The surface doesn't appear to be damaged.

I've had scuffs on the door card from clumsy entry exits and a bit of spit made the marks worse, likely by taking off a layer of whatever product was applied by the manufacturer.

I did a quick wipe with some aerospace protectant that I had lying around but I imagine something like Auto Glym vinyl & rubber care would do the trick.
 
As above giv it a gentle clean, and try something like 303 Protectant or Dodo Juice Tyromania (a black dyed wax, I think you would hard pushed to see it then. Fingers crossed.

I can so relate to this, looks like my son dragged his backpack from the front footwell and did something similar to the glove box lid!

I’m thinking of getting this part of the dash wrapped in Alcantara to match the door cards and top of drivers side dash (just to match up and protect this ‘vulnerable’ plastic from scratches).
