GR86 Interesting video with BRZ content

Really enjoyed that. I remember when the GR86 was first introduced and seeing the images of the car for the first time. I thought it looked incredible and I said to myself “I will get one of those someday”. Very nearly put my name down, but I was still very junior in my working life, so couldn’t realistically afford it.

But I must say this is the first car I’ve owned where I find I’m not browsing the classifieds regularly for the next one. If I do it’s purely looking at “dream” cars 😂

The back to basics controls, the relative ease to work on/upgrade, along with the friendly community and large knowledge base really makes me feel like I’ll be keeping this car for as long as I possibly can - so maybe this is the “endgame” car for me…

(Unless I can suddenly afford to buy/run a McLaren 😂)

Savagegeese are my favourite YouTubers. They rarely do a bad video. Sometimes Mark goes off on one and it doesn't quite work, but I generally love everything that they do even though being in the UK, alot of the cars that they review are not available to us.

Forever cars. Now that is something that really resonates with me. Especially now with the changes in the industry that is pushing everyone to automatic, hybrid, EV, etc. The GR86 is sooo manual. Wipers and rear view mirror spring to mind. As the winter has drawn in and it has got darker, colder and the rain ☹️, I've had some long drives and started thinking about some of the things I do to stay safe / comfortable on these drives, like flipping the mirror when 100000 lumens of someone's light are behind me. Honestly I've never known it so bad as this year. But strangely it all adds to the enjoyment for me. I'm interacting so much, whether it is the steering, gearbox, brakes, or the rear view mirror 😁. It keeps me awake and involved in the drive, something a Tesla Model 3, or big auto diesel (the type of cars someone would say would suit me better) wouldn't. I just love driving this car so much. Real roads, real british weather and if the road is boring, I generally know of a cross country route to get to where I need to go which makes most drives, even the ones for work a bit of an event.

the GR86 is a keeper for me. It's going to grow old and decrepit with me. 😁
