Just seen Ignition Red WN73 in the Next carpark in Kingswood, Hull. Very similar reg to my Sapphire Blue that I collect tomorrow. Think this was in the compound at John Roe Hull when I went to inspect mine a week or so ago. Nice to have another round near me!

This was us the day after we picked up the car. Your Sapphire Blue was prepped behind ours at John Roe Toyota when we were collecting - the blue looks lovely in real life. How are you finding it? We're still running it in as per the US owner's manual, 1000 miles without going over 4000rpm. About 300 miles left to go before I can really open it up.

Ah, great to hear from you! Welcome!

Thanks, I'm very happy with the colour, was having seconds thoughts whilst waiting for delivery that I should've gone Ice Silver, but when clean Sapphire is stunning. What I like about our cars is how all the colours really give them different character. I had John Roe's red demonstrator for three days after I placed my order, started picturing myself in a red one then but I think the red made me drive faster!

1st to 2nd is proving challenging at times, really doesn't like it until it's warmed up fully and even then it needs thinking through. Hope with more miles it improves, with work and my little girl I've not broke 500 miles yet. Doing the same as you regards run in, set the limiter at 4k, though you can still have plenty of fun below that thankfully!

What's your take on things? How's your gearbox feel? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on your car. And what your opinions are of your experience at John Roe.

I’m really liking the it, and my kids (3 year old twins) like it too. I can fit both of them in the back for nursery runs before I head on to work, so it ticks the “just about practical enough” box. Recently I ask them to “get into the black car” because we were all going out for the day, and my daughter pretty much barked at me “no, red car!”. It really stands out in the work car park as well as you can see in the photo. Possibly a bit too much!

I’ve had no real issues with the gearbox, certainly not with 1st to 2nd. It’s more notchy than the one on my SEAT, requiring just a bit more force to shift, but also a much shorter throw. This caused me to miss a gear shift once (possibly 4th to 5th) and I came off the clutch and onto the throttle while still in neutral (hit 7k revs, oops!), but I think it’s just a case of getting it into my muscle memory.

John Roe Toyota were great. I’ll just copy what I put in the UK owners Facebook group:
- Decent coffees on arrival was a nice touch.
- The valet seems to have been quite “light touch” as still a small amount of visible contamination from the edges of some of the protective films. Better than swirled paint I guess, and should come off after a few washes.
- Plates stuck (as requested), not screwed.
- Active sound control disabled as requested.
- Door settings (all open on one press and keyless) not changed because they couldn’t find the setting. Their technician came out and tried again with me there, I talked him through some screenshots on a forum post (https://www.gr-zoo.com/threads/coding-via-service-departments.3261/page-2) and got the settings changed before we left, so main passenger (wife) is happy.
- Full tank of fuel!
- Delivery mileage: 8
- Discussed 3 year service plan for £36 per month as we were finishing up, should get details though later in the week (ended up going with a 10 year service plan from a different dealership as much better value, it’s a national plan so can be fulfilled in Hull).
- In and out in about 40 minutes.

Since I collected I found a small amount of damage in the soft plastics of the driver's inner door sill (found same day), and a very small chip in the edge of the rear glass in a place that couldn’t realistically be a stone chip (found at about 2 weeks while washing the car). The inner sill is being replace by John Roe Toyota, part should be in now so I should chase that up. The glass has been photographed and reported to Toyota to see what course of action they want to take.

Looking forward to seeing more in the Hull area, saw a dark blue who flashed me on the beverley bypass last week, noticed too late to reciprocate

That was me! I got very excited, was the first one I'd seen in the wild - certainly made the A1079 a more interesting place for a moment!
