Not limited edition per se but certainly limited in there will be a finite amount. Does that make sense?

An mx5 will be made forever but a grit will be available for 2 years. Now if next year Toyota decide that they can't supply or want to concentrate on electric cars then people may not get one at all. A bit like the GRY.

Not "limited" limited but a bit limited.

Sort of Unlimited but not many of em🤔 A bit like MK8.5 3 door Fiesta ST, not a limited edition , but Ford pulled the plug without warning after a few months and they will be very limited 🤔 No more 3 door ST ☹️

Limited by time, not by numbers - they could build 10,000 or 100,000

The GRY was limited by numbers, not time

Hopefully Toyota will be clear on there planned build numbers now the car has finally gone on sale.
Toyota said with the GRY that 25k isn’t a limit and if the demand is there then they’ll make more.. this post by Toyota UK lately alludes to another run, it might only be a few hundred more cars for the UK but it’s not strictly limited if that’s the case.

Surely if the GR86 production for the UK is limited to 400 cars year one and similar again year two then it’s more 'limited' than the GRY? It’s a fact that you can’t purchase a GR86 now no matter what you do and due to production constraints and upcoming regulation changes Toyota won’t promise to deliver 3000 cars if they think they can only scape 800 odd over two years and any GR86 made after mid year 2024 can’t be sold.

My brother has a GRY CP, great car but polar opposite from something like the GR86 but just as interesting to me as it’s a bit more special, it’s got a good backstory and it’s a bargain considering the spec. The dick measuring contest between them is pointless, just be glad they both exist as ten years from now we’ll be forced into boring computers on wheels.

I'm curious to see what happens to the few cars that have their orders cancelled. Do they go online again?🤔

I'd imagine the nominated dealer would still receive them in stock, register the car, drive it for 10 miles and sell at a 10% mark up? :ROFLMAO:

Not to worry, I was wrong about that:
"Customers who were not able to order on Wednesday have been offered the opportunity to join a waiting list in case of cancellations. That will be operated strictly against the time customers tried to order, so on a chronological basis."

The GR86 is not a limited edition car, however it is a limited availability car. Regardless of how that is interpreted, this is the crux of it. Nobody knows how many they can or will build, they don't even know themselves, again what does it matter.

And if we really want to bicker about exclusivity then the Supra will win hands down anyway, we are not exactly swimming in those.

Now pleaseeeee can we put this one to bed.

Get the new M240i - it's technically much more superior
(I'll do that for sure if my GR86 order falls through for some reason)

At a £44k start price I'd expect it to be. Optioned up it'll be closer to £50k but then you could get a Cayman S because that is superior to the 240i.

Unfortunately not… according to Toyota UK!
