Isn't a year about standard for a (decent) new car these days anyway?

For instance I've been quote 9 months for an i20n which I thought they would have plenty of in stock.

For me, a wait of 12 (or more) months is fine; I just wish the communication was better.

July 2022 delivery was stated with some confidence at the time of ordering.

I've no real idea when I'll get the car. Apparently it's now in the country, but when I had The Phone Call mid-2023 was cited. Dealer mentioned August 2022 at some point. Who knows!

Wait, you can order a Toyota in Europe? Or, are you putting yourself in line for an allocation from Toyota? We can’t order in the US. You take what your dealer gets or you find another dealer.

Yes, we got to order and choose colour and transmission. But all orders were online only, and there were only about 400 cars allocated to the UK market until 2024. Orders opened on April 20th at 10am and all allocations were apparently sold out in about 90 minutes. So that's it...in the UK at least, the only way to get hold of a new one now is to be on the waiting list in case someone cancels. The car won't be sold in Europe after 2024 due to upcoming regulations.
