How many Engineers on here.

Software Engineer here. Full stack, react down to Linux sysadmin (although most stuff I do these days is abstracted into AWS services).

Originally my dream was electronic engineering, but I discovered I was significantly better at comp sci!

All mechanical engineering interest is purely as a hobby. I just love knowing how stuff works.
 
Yep Mechanical, Lead/Design Engineer working in automotive. Engineering automotive interiors, mainly seats, but I've done other parts. (OEM and Suppliers) Came up through the apprentice route, so an old school hands on background. Does it make me like the GRY more? Not really, I recognise the choices Toyota made and how they perhaps differ, but many cars can impress with the details that go into them for different reasons.
For me what Toyota has done isn't special or unique on the engineering front, what is special and unique is the business decision to actually do it and bring it to market, that I think we all thank them for.
 
Electrical for me, although done a full year on lathe's milling machine's surface grinding and most other machine in workshop including electric arc welding,
 
Coal Mining Engineer , took 7 years of education and practical training, to gain a Mine Manager’s qualification. To get there you did exactly the same training that every mine worker did, working 3 shifts, so you knew what the job was and how to do it. I’m a bit rusty but if you need a shaft sinking in your back garden or a tunnel under your garage I can probably get you started 😉🙂
