GR86 How are your b82rez managing?

Probably not. I'm just curious.
My monitor arrived today. Quick to fit and setup, apparently as of just now, in 5 degrees temperatures and having not been driven since Thursday morning (and then not for much more than half hour or so), it's reading 12.4v with 68% SoC. Not really much I can do with that I do at the moment but like I said, I'm just curious, so I'll keep half an eye on it when I'm near the car.

I moved my Ctek LED traffic light monitor from the old BRZ to the new one. It nearly always pulses green and only once amber, the battery drain current seems to be a lot lower in the Gen2.

I put my Cteck on the car Friday night and took it off Saturday morning and TBH I haven't used it since. Just preventative maintenance on my behalf - mine has never failed to start but I'm using it less these days . . .

Welp. Battery died. Went on holiday for three weeks and left the car on the drive. When I got back, the engine cranked very slowly and only just started (which was a relief, as I needed to clear the driveway). Drove it around the block a bit and parked it up.

Yesterday, I had the boot open for a while as I was fitting a new reversing camera. Had an intermittent problem before I went abroad, where the camera would not turn on sometimes. In fact, I had a suspicion that it might be a weak battery causing an electrical gremlin, but I'd found the camera quite cheap at an eBay scrappy, and had snapped it up before going abroad just so I didn't miss out. Finished fitting it and checking it with the ignition on. But when it came time to start the engine - nothing. Just rapid clicking from the starter.

Luckily I don't need the car this week and I couldn't be bothered to faff with jumping it, so I just ordered a new battery from Tanya (https://www.tayna.co.uk/car-batteries/varta/d48/). Should hopefully be here tomorrow.

I have that Varta battery on mine. Absolutely no problems with it since fitting early December (I think). I can leave it two/three weeks and know that I can press the accelerator pedal fully down to prime the oil for a few seconds with confidence that it will still crank and start on the second press of the button.

I did have an issue with fitting it though. One of the terminals was too small for the clamp on the cable. I had to get some shims to pack out the terminal from Amazon. It will be interesting to hear if you have the same issue.

It arrived and went in today, car starts more keenly and smoothly than it ever has. I didn't have an issue with the terminal size though, I tightened them as much as possible and there's no movement in the clamp.

Good to know its just mine !! :)

My GR86 is fine but it is used daily. I think it is more how the car is used more than anything. Our other car has been laid up for a month and not really used for the past month and the 7 year old battery has bit the ghost. I had to go jump the wife at work last Wednesday evening!

My Celica GT-Four was originally sat in the garage with nothing attached to it and the battery went bad really quickly. Now it is always connected up to a trickle charger and the battery lasts fine.

The odd two-three week should be okay but if you are constantly doing it the battery will not like it.

I'm glad to say that the battery drain on my Gen2 BRZ is nowhere near as bad as the old BRZ.

Yesterday I noticed my Ctek monitor was flashing yellow, but a long blast around the M25 and up the M1 and back home has got it flashing green again. I think short drives into town and home don't put back in what it took to start it.

Another winter survived for my original stock battery. The CTEK seems to be working as intended as the car happily fired with zero hesitation after a healthy spin of clear flood mode to get the oil circulated.

Hopefully I’ll get more opportunities to get the thing out this year. That said I can’t help wondering if a sump guard, lift springs and a switch to 17’s with some hefty sidewalls are required given the current state of our roads locally !

My Battery died last week. o_O
After an overdue cleaning and some repositioning in the driveway, the car barely started. I was afraid it will not start in the morning. With no charger available and ambient temperature below 5 °C and sure enough, it wouldn't.
I bought the Varta D47 (same as D48 but mirrored terminals) later that day, at a local car parts shop, because I needed the car running. No issues with the terminal size, too.

Due to the high gas price, we took the wifes car (Renault 5) more often and also for longer journeys. And the drive to work and back seemed to be to short to recharge the battery properly.
