Have been little lost recently due to many ongoing issues in life in general, and started looking alternative options for transport (just to spark things little bit up - often when I have had big changes in life, I've often swapped cars in the same time, among other things).
Test drove 996 Turbo just a moment ago, and must say that power delivery was quite exiting. One can easily notice that extra displacement and turbo provides more grunt. However, after the test drive drove GR and must say GR is more fun car to drive. Reasons: its more tossable, and you can easier play with it. Sure, I am more familiar with the chassis dynamics but as GR had much faster steering rack, it feels its much more easier to catch if it goes. Practicality goes for GR aswell, in addition with more modern cabin and infotainment. Overall, after the test drive felt that yes 996 Turbo is likely a nice and exiting car but in totally different way what GR can deliver. It is maybe a weapon of choice for autobahn and big road, but feel that with GR I can have more fun in every day life. So, no sidesteps will be taken. And sometimes it is good to have some test drives, to see better that there is on the other side of the fence.
Maybe if I've driven the car longer on track and with less traffic the opinion could be different, but this seemed to be the case after a shorter drive.
I must say that 996 GT3 CS left rather special feeling, and it was more exciting package than Turbo. But overall, different animals. Glad I have the GR in garage!
