GR Yaris Hello there

Stock exhaust not very pretty after some heat treatment

Installed the power flex bolts today - rear bolts were more tricky to get on their place but managed to install them with little helper jack.
Booked the alignment for wednesday morning. Noted that lower rear hub bolts were quite loose so need to ask alignment shop to check their Nm's too.

got little snowfall so maybe going for last snow recce for this year this evening.
Ordered a 1ltr of Endless RF-650. Started thinking getting something cheaper like Motul RBF 650 but then after reading one review decided to stick with Endless (even though not racing to extremes, tend to like using good stuff what comes to cars and driving).

Ordered cusco front and rear strut bars. Not sure if it really makes much difference as with stock bushes and not that grippy rubber but shouldn't be worse either.
First track day is on 15th of April - hope to get bits installed before that one.
We are driving on old layout so its cool to see what's the improvement to old times. Although 1st lap session for year often goes with bit rusty wrirsts.

New superduper cooling hoses from DO88 and new front pads on. Toyota pads had zero wear during winter which is a miracle on its own.

Pad change was a breeze although outer front pads were very snug to get on their place. With little snake oil and steel brush it did eventually find its place

Added cusco braces
Initial feel car did feel more stiff but this is to be validated on track next Mon.

Front brace mounting is sturdy, rear not so robust but maybe its sufficient..

Did 60km recce on one of the best local roads and car is now quite sweet to drive
- chassis loads itself better in corner with strut bars. Car feels firmer and more stable even when driving on limit.
- new geo works really well, eager to see how it goes on track but per feel I would say it will be faster
- Valino Greeva has amazingly good grip even not that wide (215) - didn't except it to perform this well. Goes well as everyday tire, of course it is bit loud compared to regular tires but who cares.. Steering feel is not as good as MSC2 but for the price the tire is good to drive on limit.

Visited our nearby track yesterday. Fun driving, and new geo setup works well, no annoying understeer in slow corners.
New oil cooler works well and oils were around 110-115'C after two fast laps, dropping quickly to 95'C on cooldown, i.e. fine for my time attack usage.
beat 500hp rs3 by 7s so maybe its fast enough.

Even though larger tyre and better suspension would be likely faster, I like the handling of the car with current 225 cup2.
Having a confidence in faster corners is the handling I'm after. Car is really fun to drive and manage within limit at the moment, so there's more headroom for driver skill to be improved. Maybe some day revise the suspension but wheter to go bigger tyre - not sure if that's really needed.

Didn't check how oil pressures were in corners yet. need to check if I can see something in videos. the pressure in general with 0w20 is quite low, was reading 2.2-2.4bar when oils were hot but that is in spec that Toyota recommends (above 2bar). 0w20 gets so thin when hot so maybe that is just normal.

edit. checked the pressures from video and did not see any drop in PSI in two right turns so maybe it works now better. nice.

funny detail, RS3 has wider front tires than rears, front being 265 and rears 245. didn't know that but it was funny.
Yeah they have done this quite some time with their optional upgraded sport/track wheel package. That 5 cyl is quite heavy so just like mid/rear engines have wider tyres on rear axle...

Best lap at Alastaro yesterday. Gave two passanger rides before this and then one hot push that ended up puncture.
Not so great driving but managed to improve trap speed record on track (177->184kmh) so maybe the long right hander before the long back straight was hitting better this time.
Lessons learned to have more patience in driving but maybe too many moving balls for the event to relax fully.

So what is the go with the driving gloves. Are they are a requirement- Rules/Regulations?.

Have you removed/drilled out brake dust covers?

No, havent bothered as it requires more disassembling. Too much on the plate to have energy for bigger projects at the moment
I've bought these ducts few months ago but hesitated installing them without modifying duct covers.
Seeing how yours aligned after installation, do you think they will be at least somewhat effective without modifying the dust covers?

well guess they're better than nothing, at least the disc inner area should have path for air to go through.
Not tracking that hard that maybe mine use case is not the hardest for brakes. need to see if getting smoke brakes after track session. But I do like that idea that the path of the air is much shorter now from duct to disc vs. the hrns duct where the path is quite long and narrow. Maybe the plastic scoop could be longer to get better benefit of air coming up but maybe its sufficient as it is..
