GR Yaris GRY Sept Delivery Interest/Approach

Hi All
I've a GRY coming in Sept according to the dealer (18 months post order), Im not 100% sure whether I'll actually take it as I've a GR86 now on order which is more suitable.

Has anyone managed to transfer an order to someone else so they're the first owner, or sold almost immediately? I'd certanily be looking to not lose any money including first year tax etc etc and wouldnt turn down a slight return of course! But also not sure Im wanting the dealer to have the chance to make a profit out of 'my order' if that makes sense as seeing some 'new' orders being sold for more via Toyota dealers

If you don't register it, it should not be traded as "owned". Si I'd say just sell it without registering with as less mileage as possible then?

Hey @SJR202 , have you worked out what you're doing with your order yet?

I'm thinking of going the other way from 86 order (stuck in Derby) to Yaris as I'm going to need to put the kids in the back more often than thought and these give a bit more flexibility

Hey @doogle83 Im almost certain to go for the GR86 (also in Derby) over the GRY on the basis that the GRY is am amazing car but on a daily drive / commute on UK roads its too firm for me sadly, the 86 supposedly is firm but not as much from what I have read (look forward to a test drive though). The GRY is now November based on the latest update.
I've also a backup deposit (though not official) with the Honda dealer for the Type R, but suspect it'll be closer to 40k, but hopefully the 86 is everything Im looking for (dont need rear seats)

You've got a lot of good options on the table there then!

Shame that the GRY is November now, I'd like to get something sorted sooner really so I have a decent alternative to compare to when the 86 finally turns up.

You might need a backup for the backup unfortunately as it sounds like demand is massive for the new Type R and supply very limited. Keep an eye on that deposit as dealers shouldn’t really be taking deposits for a car you can’t order (yet).

@bencollins4 yeah it was emphasised its a deposit to 'be on the order list' so they'll take deposits for interested buyers to be first in line to be contacted when orders are available, however if its also an online order process like the 86 then I can cut out the dealer and go via the online journey I suspect much quicker than the dealer who'll have many to process.
I want the 86 to be the right one, sadly I cant afford all of them!! A 30k, 2 door, coupe with a N/A engine has been extinct for years! :-(

As the last of the true drivers cars (IMHO) are coming to an end then manufactures cant make enough!

I don’t see how that works as Toyota UK have a list already which is numbered up to 1,000 places from memory and then those on the list not numbered are way down the line. Dealers being dealers I guess.

I agree, very odd.

I’m just looking forward to the day Toyota announce they aren’t making anymore.

Which I’m surprised hasn’t happened already.
