Just took delivery of my GR86 and after a week of driving it. Couldn’t love it more. It’s bone stock and it will probably stay that way as I generally prefer stock cars or ones with minimal mods. I’m looking for people in the NE area to meet up, go for drives, discuss the cars etc. as I know nobody interested in them. Cheers
Welcome to the forum from top of the Scottish Borders.
They are not without their flaws, and why didn’t they (Toyota) just moments, but in this silly world of nanny aids and huge pointless screen that extend over the dash and in some cases rotate, they are a superb antidote!
Hello, and welcome to the forum.
I also have a Grey '86, and coincidentally, used to live in Mickleton, the village the photo!
That's a great area for driving roads and we're very fortunate to have easy access to the Lakes, Dales, N Yorks Moors and Northumberland.
I'm now nearer Bishop Auckland area.
I'd be interested in a meet up sometime, as I'm sure @chopper602 would too.
I'm a bit busy for the next month though.
Just a word of caution, take it steady when it's cold weather (less than 10c) especially when cold and wet.
Enjoy the car!
Thank you for the advice, and yes I would definitely be interested in getting together and leaning more about them. Haven’t seen any GRs in this neck of the woods yet so was surprised to see there’s a few around.
Current AS tyres are excellent option, especially the further north you go.
This year the thermal delta means you can be driving from near zero in the morning into the teens during the afternoon. Tarmac temp also doesn’t change as quickly, this is where AS make a lot of sense.
Thank you for the advice, I will definitely look into some all season tyres. As you know the winters can get fairly brutal on the dale. This is also my first RWD and you can definitely tell it would easy slip in ice
