I've got GR06TMR - last bit is my initials, so with strategy it could say something else where the 0 is (off road of course)

Out of interest, why is drilled holes an issue? I've seen a few people mention it, but can't see it matters to me as you can't see the holes in the chassis anyway. Or is it for a cleaner look on the reg plate? :unsure:

Itā€™s for a cleaner look and avoids someone
going at your car with a drill and not worrying because their handiwork will be hidden behind the plates. Having indiscriminate holes drilled in the car is not nice , even if they are hidden
 
...and it'll be sods law that when you decide you want a shorter plate on the car it doesn't quite cover the existing holes!
 
Definitely worth asking the question( s)when folk get a phone call ā€œwill the plates be fixed before delivery to the dealer? If Yes , will they be fixed with double sided tape or screws ?
 
That is a good question actually. My GRY was screwed in and the plate was slanted as the holes were not aligned on both the plate and the bumper. For both the front and rear plates!

They told me on Friday when I got my call that Toyota GB add the plates. The rest of the pdi is all done by your nominated dealer.

How annoying. The plates on my GRY were on straight, at least I think they are... You've made me paranoid now. Will have to check first thing in the morning! :rolleyes:

Took a snap from a German YouTube vid, reg plate shape looks better than I thought it would.
 
(y) yeah doesn't look too bad, definitely makes me want to sort a shorter private plate though.

Looks like they use a black plastic plate mount for the front plate which attaches to the top of the grill. I suspect this is something Toyota UK attach to the car upon arrival into Europe? From memory most of the EU plates are about the same so depending on where these are fixed (screwed) to the car it may not be possible to get a neat short plate installed if you already have the wide standard plate mount?

Would be interested if any people with cars in Europe (if there are any) could comment?

Buy another mount - cut out a middle section - stick back together - fill and flatten any height differences - paint - attach to your car - attach your shorter plate.

Luckily my GRY plates are on straight. However, it was interesting how many wonky plates I saw this morning when doing the school run - I never paid any attention before! Now that you pointed it out, every few mins I spotted one. That would really do my OCD in.
 
I've never had a private plate but tempted to make an exception for this car.

How easy will it be to add a private plate to an existing order, or would we need to change it once we've received the delivery of the car?

They told me on my confirmation call that I can basically do it up until we arrange collection.

They won't register the cars until they're in the country so you'll be able to see it coming in via the MyT app and just send them the relevant information before then.
