GR86 GR86 Delivery Tracking and Collection thread

Heard today that my car is on Morning Calypso, currently due into Singapore on September the 8th

Still looking at an October delivery

I asked for an update so that I could plan selling the current car but that will give the prices time to stabilise I hope after the August pre-73 plate crash

They also confirmed that all accessories are unavailable so the mudflaps will need to be ordered direct from the dealer (if they find an alternate supplier)

Just had an email to say 'should' be at my dealer late next week.

Just done the drive home insurance as well, at least I think I have. It gives you a price for the annual policy and an option to save. I guess its successful at this point.
 
Morning Caroline due Bristol 11th September. I’m guessing collection around week 2 October.

Supposed to be collecting the car tomorrow. Had no comms from the dealer, apart from last week to say that Thursday “should be fine” all communication ignored since. I’ve had no vehicle reg to get insurance sorted, even though I told them I also need it to book a ferry for Friday.

Toyota online have also been uncontactable. I’ve not even had an email to pay for the car yet. If I can’t collect tomorrow then I won’t be around for another 4 weeks (which they also know). Why does it seem so difficult for car companies to actually sell cars all of a sudden.
 
I’ve found Toyota online responsive and helpful on the phone. Email a bit slower but also pretty good.

I’d be calling the dealer to get clarification on what’s going on.
 
Went down to the Chelmsford dealer on the way home from work yesterday. Met the GR rep, who was helpful and enthusiastic and had a look around my new car while it still has the delivery stickers on it.

Collecting it Monday afternoon and can’t wait.

They’ve got 6 GR86’s awaiting collection so it was also a chance to see some of the colours in real life.

I must say, the red looks great. I’ve gone for Sapphire blue. Difficult to really see the paintwork as they’re absolutely filthy so excited to see it cleaned up and in the sunlight.

I got frustrated with them last week but I must say this week I've been speaking to a single member of the online team exclusively and he's been great.

There has to be more than the rumoured extra 500.
 
Online team have been great when I’ve spoken to them. Emails normally get a response within 24 hours. It’s just a faff because normally a car deal on a new car is super simple. You test drive, agree deal, pay a deposit, wait a bit, pay for it and pick it up. Dealer is doing all the leg work. Whereas it feels disjointed and things only seem to happen if I chase. Not sure if it’s because i’m impatient or a step ahead of them.

Red one at Johnson’s Liverpool looking well in the sun.
I called in to check where my sapphire blue ducktail was that I ordered on 16th August. Will be in for this Friday so 3 weeks 2 days from ordering part. It’s here a month before the car. They haven’t fitted one yet, so they need to look into it.

Mine is ready for pickup this Saturday 9am. My car landed on UK shores 11th August. Car was at Derby on Monday but after a phone call to Toyota Buy Online it has gone from there to ready to pick up in 48 hours with a phone call from the dealer to arrange handover. I think it has been at the dealer for a while but no one has picked it up. Mine is on a WN plate so I guess it has been registered at Bristol.

It is my first ever brand new car (My parents had plenty so know how good the experience can be) but I am expecting here are the keys and away you go.

Managed to get through to the dealer and Toyota Online. Turns out the Part Ex that I thought had already been removed was holding everything up. Toyota online were waiting for an appraisal from the dealer and the dealer forgot to ask me to the bring the car. Told them to just remove it and I’ll sort it privately. Insurance in place and money paid, hopefully still on for a collection tomorrow. Although not had confirmation of the funds being received yet.
 
There seems to be a real glut of deliveries at the moment - great to see. I assume some have been held back slightly for the '73' registration.

I note that these current deliveries are a different experience those of us in the December batch - here you all are with your wonderful gleaming cars photographed in the glorious sunshine and your paintwork 'popping' in the late summer sun. We were all looking out our windows at our filthy cars praying for half a dry decent day for a quick wash, sliding about on the greasy roads whilst we scrubbed our tyres in!

I'll be following in your footsteps. I called Toyota for an update today, and my delivery (which was early to mid Oct) is now late Nov, early Dec.

Would this make it one of the last cars?

Of course you may get it sooner. Mine arrived quicker than I was told.
