I was due to collect my car tomorrow, but just had a call from the dealer saying they can't hand the car over as the outstanding recall hasn't been completed by the PDI team.

I specifically mentioned this around 10 days ago and was told the recall would be completed, but apparently it was overlooked. Now, I will have to wait for collection until next week.

Sooooooo frustrating!!! Feel for you mate. Tell them to pull their finger out and that you want it at the beginning of the week and NOT the end! Good luck

Thanks. Yes, feel very frustrated. Sent them an email mid-week to confirm all was good, but it's the issue of the broken line of communication between sales person and PDI team. Trying to be pragmatic given how long the wait has already been...

Vehicle Price: £29,995.00
 - Includes 1st Year VED based on CO2 emissions of 200 g/km (£1,420.00)
Pearlescent Paint: £965.00
On The Road Price £30,960.00

How are people finding comms with Toyota online? I’m beginning to think the likelihood of them responding to me may be improved by switching from email to a physical letter send in their general direction using a trebuchet!

As I'm nearing delivery, I've been contacting them alongside the dealer, although Toyota Online hardly ever respond to the same email - it's mainly the dealer...

I’m finding communication from Toyota online extremely poor. On multiple occasions now my emails have been either ignored or missed as they’ve failed to generate a response. The contact at my nominated dealer has been very polite/friendly on the occasions we’ve spoken but I’m finding I’m having to chase him on each occasion.

The whole process has been so shambolic it’s not exactly encouraging me to buy another Toyota in the future !

Regarding GAP, most insurance policies have built in GAP cover if the vehicle is under a year old and you are the first keeper. So in theory you don’t need it until second year, but worth checking your policy docs to confirm.

Thanks for the info! I spoke to ALA and they don’t include registration costs, delivery and first road fund tax cost.

I spoke to Toyota to request an invoice in the end. Sent it to ALA and they deducted the above from policy amount.
