I feel the same way! Between the car entering build and handover will be roughly 3 months which doesn’t seem too bad. Don’t understand how earlier orders are yet to hear anything regarding handover.
 
GR86 troopers,

Could one of you lucky souls who have received their car kindly advise on the following -

Speaker size for the dash mounted speaker & a picture or 2 of it.

My understanding is that the car 6 1/2 door speakers & tweeters at the top of the dash next to the A pillar. It’s also been mentioned on other GR forums that there is a small 3inch midrange speaker or space for one at the top of the door or dash.

I’m looking to upgrade & want to buy items before my car arrives.

If anyone has already gone down the road of upgrading their hifi then please do feel free to drop me a message.

Afternoon @Gwheezy - I'm afraid I haven't made any plans/started to upgrade my hifi, so I cannot really help there.

I can only add that I've been pleasantly surprised by the sound quality of the standard set-up, so an option may be to have a listen to someone else's GR86 standard system (or indeed wait for yours to arrive) before investing any of your hard-earned.

Reading that back I'm very conscious that this is exactly the sort of 'advice' my dad would give, but I am getting older now and please do feel free to disregard!
 
@Silver Fox thanks the reply & agreed.

I should know better at my age but sadly I’ve been spoilt with upgraded car hifi for many years now hence I will be upgrading speakers & adding some additional power to drive them pretty much as soon as the car arrives.

Would you be able to share a photo of the top of the dash by any chance.

This might help, the base model GR86 audio system is what we get in the UK. OEM Audio Plus offer a direct replacement for the system.

What audio make/model/series are you planning to upgrade to? I thought on the test drive the speakers were 'adequate' but nothing special at higher volumes or on motorway driving, like many OEM they're fine for talk radio/general pop, but if you want bass and clarity they are cheap things.
 
**Possible Update**
Spoke to ToL this morning who as always very helpful, seems my car has been added to a movement order at 10:01 today, c3 days to arrive at a dealer from then followed by checks etc. (removing moss and mice I suspect), so it 'could' be getting closer to pick up day I hope!!

I realised I first put a deposit down with a dealer Nov 2021 before it got refunded when they went online so it has been quite the wait!

Make sure you budget time and money to address sound deadening, sealing and 'anti rattling' the doors. This is probably more important than anything else. You can put all the power you want through it, but the door cards and panel will buzz and vibrate like mad, then you end up worse than you started. From experience even the best speakers will be medicore until you deal with the environment they are mounted in.

Anyway, one for another thread. Let's get it back on topic (y)
 
So looking at the number of deliveries, it looks like 67 forum members collected their cars in December. A lot higher than I thought would be the case!

It will be interesting to see how this run rate continues over 2023, particularly as there were around 200 GR86 owners on this forum - half of the total allocation.

I'll keep adding to the list on the first post - so please keep this thread updated once you've collected your cars! (y)

Toyota U.K. emailed me this week to say they are ahead of schedule with deliveries and my 2024 delivery is now likely to be H2 2023. I was sent to the back of queue after changing colour.

Wonder if there is any scope for another small batch if they get through them all this year?

I refuse to believe this, purely because it would mean that dude that got kicked out was right all along 😂

Does this mean we will have to invite him back and apologise 😂

That would be amazing, we would gladly have more brethren, I mean I don't think we would expect miracles but it would be nice to have another batch of 100 cars.
