GR86 GR86 Delivery Tracking and Collection thread

Hey @TigerJim, would be greatly appreciated if you could get that confirmed via email.

Seems my dealer is being a bit opportunistic with a quote for £600 (I doubt my dealer will be the last!)
Just confirmed it as £290+ vat, so £350. Apparently the spoiler will be here next week! Seems to include the fitting too. Whether that’s standard or whether that’s because I was pain previously I don’t know. Either way, £600 sounds ridiculous! I’m not actually ordering a spoiler for myself, though was half tempted to get one to sell on!

That’s bloody cracking. No idea how I go about getting one prior to my car being delivered due to the requirement of a VIN from my dealer…

I just did an email search to see when my last contact with Toyota was and saw I'd missed one on Friday checking to see if I wanted to put a private plate on the car. Looks like things may be moving for me again.

Just had a phone call off my dealer regarding the spoiler, I been quoted £650 fitted, spoiler+2 hour labour + VAT. Sounds to me like yours has been offered with free fitment. I've initially said yes but I will pushing for free fitment as a good will gesture. Think its only fair really given the circumstances.

Mine will be getting stuck on only anyway. I don't fancy the dealer drilling my car! Had plenty of spoilers stuck on with 3m tape and never had an issue. The spoiler comes with pre attached tape all around it, line it up and stick it on!

Some good news, a GR86 has been hitting the UK car magazines this month for review on UK roads.

Even if the dealer fitting cheap spoilers did them for £400 for customers who didnt buy through them they'd have a queue at the door

My only question if/when i get the call is, if it's fitted by Toyota is it then classed 'stock' when getting insurance. Or if we do it ourselves, is it classed as a mod meaning potentially increase premium?

If it's classed as 'stock' then i think the £300 or so for fitting 'might' be worth it just for the convenience over the coming years - depending on how long you keep it of course.

I don't think it makes much difference. It's an OEM part which can be fitted as an option, it's not like an aftermarket exhaust or wheels, so personally I wouldn't bother mentioning it as a "mod", and I don't thick insurers would bat an eye. If anyone knows better, happy to be corrected though.

Yeh true, it is OEM , i was just thinking about my current TRC splitter which i have to declare.

It depends on who you are insured with, so it's best to speak to them before hand.

For example: Esure have a document/article on their website, which states: " including optional extras fitted to the car when new by the vehicle manufacturer or dealer"

Link: https://help.esure.com/article/MQUO...O0004/what-counts-as-a-modification-to-my-car

It's best just to declare everything that isn't a model specific feature and if they try to charge you an arm and a leg, well there are plenty of specialist insurance companies out there who deal with mods all the time.

It’s a dealer fit optional extra. If that voids an insurance claim then maybe I should declare my heated steering wheel!
Optional extras are fine as it's included in the price when you buy.. however this technically isn't part of the initial price (well unless they do indeed add it to the invoice) in which case i guess it's classed as a option. I suspect that it will be a separate charge, so again, technically it could be classed as a mod.. but who knows!! I personally think it's worth knowing for definite though. It's just not worth the risk these days.

Anyway that's what i'm doing. Not going to comment anymore on this as i'm not entirely sure this should be part of this thread. So will shutup before i get my wrists slapped.

Not a huge update, but my dealer just called me letting me know that Toyota is releasing some accessories in UK for the GR86, for now it is just the duckbill spoiler, colour coded.
He wanted to know if I wanted to get it added, it is £350, but he wasn't sure if there is any labour charge to get it installed.

He also let me know that this might be limited, because Toyota wants to find out how much interest there is... so might be first come first serve basis.

Anyway, I got mine ordered, I also asked about car delivery, and he still thinks they are all coming on 14th of November

I'm hoping someone makes a carbon fibre duckbill spoiler. I think it would be a nice contrast instead of the same colour as the body.

That’s a fairly positive review. Essentially a GT86 but better (which mimics other worldwide reviews). Slightly incorrect on saying that you can only get it in 3 colours but we can allow that oversight.

I have just had an email from Toyota uk outlining how much money I need to pay to avoid delays in anticipation of my car arriving at the dealers in Southampton.
Might be November delivery is not just a runour
