GR86 GR86 Delivery Tracking and Collection thread

Thinking of phoning my dealer in a few days if there's no movement. More out of curiosity as to what they know. Apart from me phoning them, they've never phoned me.
Let us know if you do. Given that some cars in Europe now appear to be with their customers, you'd hope they now know what's going on.

GT86 is ins group 34

The ABI hasn’t listed the GR86 group yet, my understand is a manufacture supplies a demo car, and parts price list.

That gets looked over by the ABI and Thatcham, they do the math and come up with repair costs, safety features security features and then produce the catagory.

Years back I had the 9th R32 in to the UK, which was a problem because the ABI hadn’t had a car to check over from VW. They assigned a temporary group, and a few weeks in to ownership the temp group became the valid / correct group for the car👍

Response to the latest email I sent...

"We have received confirmation the issue delaying the delivery of your GR86 had been resolved. The software of the brake computer will be updated to better suit European driving and road conditions. We are currently awaiting the revised delivery date for your vehicle. Once this information is received, we will contact you again."

"Will be" suggests they've not implemented the fix yet but at least they know what it is so some progress finally!

Still annoying that you have to chase to get this information.

That's all that was needed to be said in the first place really. Delays happen, especially with the world how it is at the minute, just be transparent.

Confirmation that the issue is resolved is at least nice. Hopefully the people that have had cars in the country for 4(!) months will start getting them relatively soon.

Hope you don't mind, but I've just shared this over on GR86.org in the thread about European updates.

Brake computer, I guess that could still be the stability control as wheels would be individually braked if the car started to go sideways. Hope they haven’t taken the fun out of the car

Could well be calibration applied to “Sport” and “Track” modes to rein it in a little bit? I’d imagine if this is the case then Off still means off.

Sounds like the EU wants them to add a nanny as drivers can’t be trusted

It will be. The module which controls VSC is the same one which controls the ABS and is mounted to to the ABS modulator....at least it was in the previous generation. I guess "brake computer" means this.

But they will probably end up making the car more dangerous as people will turn it completely off rather than being allowed to get a bit sideways with a safety net of VSC if it gets really out of shape.
this is, what happened to GEN1 non-facelift models...

Following my nominated dealer advising my car would be ready for collection on th 11th October, I called Toyota Online. They said that would not be the case, but suggested three to four weeks is likely. They did confirm my car (10:07 order) was in the UK; is awaiting release pending final checks (though no specific mention of software updates etc) and is one of the first to go out the door.

Knew it :( I got my hopes up that your dealer was right and we'd be seeing cars within the fortnight.
I was a 10.04 order, so hopefully I'll be seeing mine around the same time as you.

Mine was in the pre order batch of very early cars, so it should be one of the very first, I’ll chase an update from Toyota today as I’ve heard nowt.
