GR86 GR86 Delivery Tracking and Collection thread

Oh God this will probably be the latest sucker punch - despite knocking on a bit and having a clean (ish) driving history, I'll probably get an enormous quote that would even make newly-unfettered-bonus receiving banker or power company shareholder wince.

I just tried running a comparison using the registration of the UK press car....unfortunately, I got a message that "none of our providers can give you a quote". Maybe because I used a proper registration of a press car? Still, when I entered it, it identified the car correctly as a GR86.

Never mind. Still time for that to be sorted out.

EDIT: Same result on moneysupermarket, without entering a reg. So I guess insurers won't be quoting just yet.

I daren't even look.

Who's brave enough to run a quote and provide some context like whether it's gone up or down against your current car? Current GT86 owner could be ideal for this!

But no one I've heard of and only one insurer. I pay £194 on the vRS

Right, let me finally sell those shares I’ve been hanging on to to fully fund the purchase of the car.

Oh! Hang on a minute… Is it too late to jump on that finance offer? 🤔

Any movement where cars are released to customers is a good thing. I don't see why it won't be long for us. It's only a software update
I'd like to think that, but ever the pessimist, I reckon we still won't have ours until November.
But, as you say, it's good news; and even if we don't get the cars until November, hopefully this issue that has been resolved is the same one holding the UK cars, meaning that fingers crossed, we can rely on them not being delayed further.

Wording from Toyota to me back in August seemed weirdly specific about different markets:

"The current estimated delivery timing is expected to be from the end of September onwards. Delivery time differs by different markets."

Then September went out the windows 2 weeks later:

"Whilst we were hoping to have vehicles released towards the end of September we have now been advised that there is a continuation in the hold for deliveries"

...so I'm still expecting November, personally.

Yup. Knowing our luck, it's only a software update, but the software is only stored on one laptop, and they have to personally hand-deliver it to each market in turn to update all the cars. And the UK will be last on the list. Or something like that. Sigh.

They convert it to byte code and the guy (peter) has to type every 0 and 1 individually one after another into each car.
