GR86 GR86 Delivery Tracking and Collection thread

Is it the same person that promised us a monthly update in our welcome calls in April?
Different! Well she has a different email address anyway. I'll contact her again when we've not had an update by Friday.

I heard that Agustín Martín will be dressing up as Santa and delivering all cars personally on 25th December (2022).

This is my worry, too. The fact that Toyota UK are unable or unwilling to provide an update signals that they don't have a reliable course of action, so it might end up a rolling delay until they do.

Its already a rolling delay, mine was built and ready for delivery mid July, then I was told there'd be a delay to August, then September, then Mid October then a non committal end of September update. Frankly ridiculous, however Im wondering how many months i've got to go in their courtesy car and if the GR86 turns up with bird etchings or paint fade then ill not be having it.

Same ^^
Online account doesn't have any dates still but I can't remember "damageCode" being there before?
"isDelayed: null" - Yeah, right!!!

Damage code did used to be there. Wonder what codes are 'sun damage', 'bird stains' and rust!?

On the upside it seems barn finds are worth a lot of money these days so maybe they'll be the newest barn finds ever!

Did occur to me, wont the battery be knackered if its sat for months? It'll certainly be flat, I am a little worried how much impact on components sitting in an airfield does to a car, especially when we're into winter? anyone know?

Just checked mine...

currentStatus: "RottingAwayInACarPark"
damageCode: "ExtensiveBirdShit; FadedPaint; TyresFookedThroughNotMovingForMonths; BatteryKnackered"
isDelayed:
"YesButDoNotTellCustomerWhy"

Sun damage? Its a car, not a priceless ming vase. It's designed to live outside. I doubt the paint is going to fade noticeably in a couple of months, and its not like it will stop fading and become immune to sun damage when you collect it (unless garaged forever). Don't really see much difference between it sitting in a car park at Derby and sitting on the road outside my house where it will live for the rest of the time I own it.

As for the battery, if its going to discharge, then it will have done so in the month it spent in a ship on the way over anyway. The dealership aren't going to hand over a brand new car that won't start. I really wouldn't worry.

A lot of people forgetting that most cars pre pandemic / chip shortage were made and sat in car parks for months before they saw the road

I know it's very frustating waiting, especially when you know your car's been sat in Derby and you just want to get hold of it, but have to agree with the couple of posts above. Pre-pandemic it was very usual for cars to be sat in huge car parks, old air fields etc. for months or even over a year before they got delivered to a customer. When I went to order a 'new' Abarth 124 Spider a few years ago, I wanted a specific colour and spec. I ended up having to choose one off a list of ones already made and sat in storage somewhere, as they were all pre-built sat waiting to be bought. I think that was pretty common, and from what I could tell they had an initial batch of cars made and sent to the UK, and then they got registered as people ordered them. It'd be nice to think my car arrives on a boat and then a few weeks later I get delivery, but if it ends up a few months wait then the paint won't have suddenly deteriorated and the battery won't be ruined when I get it. We're waiting for one of the last of it's kind, and Toyota have made it affordable, plus, from the reviews and write ups I've seen, a really fun drive, so it'll be worth the wait.

As of today, apparently 'my' car has now made its way to Derby!

Derby's not too far from me. I'm inclined to get meself "tooled up"* and go and fetch the f**ker, who's with me?!?

IntermediateDeliveries and currentStatus are back, but the dates are missing.

Looks like they foudn out, what we are doing.
At least the may read in the forums.

Anyone managed to get one to show up on any of the price comparison sites for insurance? Would like to try and get my ducks in a row before my alleged December delivery!
Just a heads up....the car now appears on comparison websites. Screenshot from CompareTheMarket.com.
Hopefully this is a sign that delivery might not be too far off...

Oh God this will probably be the latest sucker punch - despite knocking on a bit and having a clean (ish) driving history, I'll probably get an enormous quote that would even make newly-unfettered-bonus receiving banker or power company shareholder wince.

I daren't even look.

Who's brave enough to run a quote and provide some context like whether it's gone up or down against your current car? Current GT86 owner could be ideal for this!
