GR86 GR86 Delivery Tracking and Collection thread

Some of it has been poor though. It's Toyota, not Morgan. It's not as if they only have a handful of employees and need someone to cut a tree down to build a chassis. I'm not overly worried but will feel better once it's in build as then I'll know I've not been forgotten. Part of me thinks it's because so many of us have gone blue and they've had to stagger production. Years ago if in the UK you wanted white on a Mazda 3 MPS (very similar pearl white the 86 has), the Japanese cars were priority and they like white. You'd have to wait several months longer than other colours to get it.

Seems like a few people have started to get movement on their GR86 orders. Rather than clog up the order thread, please use this thread once your order is confirmed to keep everyone up to date with your build progress/shipping/delivery estimates. (y)

, those that order number file will not be created / active yet?

I don't think anyone is questioning the time it takes to deliver the cars, obviously it's an enormous task and any delays in the current economic climate are to be expected.

The ordering system is under question though, as for one of the largest manufacturers the process is not very transparent, communication around the pre-orders was lacking and it now appears that some people may be getting their confirmed delivery dates earlier than those who ordered before them, but that will be validated in the coming weeks/months.
I'm not sure what people want? You can order online and if you have any questions you can call up Toyota. I don't know why people are waiting for the phone to ring if they weren't sure if they had an order. Call Toyota up if you have doubts.

It's no different to a dealer in my view except you have a lot less bs and hassle. This and the GRY purchase has been by far the best experience I've had ordering a new car. Efficient.

The only criticism is the communication initially about the process but for someone like me who never had any intention of going to a dealer to order one, it's been completely fine.

Random thought of the day….

If I am not mistaken, the GR86 is actually built at the Subaru factory in Gunma.

Yet MyT shows the pathway as the GR86 being built at the Toyota City plant which I think is 5 hours away from Gunma.

I wonder how much this impacts the actual accuracy of what you see in the MyT app? Presumably there would be more of a delay to show any updates as its reliant on Subaru systems feeding into Toyota?

Still no call & nothing on the app but my order wasn't confirmed until 10.28, now I'm rubbish with tech do I have to do something to get my order onto myT or is something Toyota do at there end? It would just give me reassurance if I could see something while I wait for "the call" which is probably going to be another week + at the rate they are going at

Because the main question that people would have is "am I going to get a car?" and TGB won't answer that until you get "the call".

5th Aug - Magnetite Grey for me 🙌

The separation of delivery times is interesting here - I would have expected more units be built at the same time, rather than stopping and then re-starting the production line a week later and possibly being on sent out on a different boat. Perhaps there's only a certain amount of space reserved per boat for GR's and the rest is for mainstream stuff - Again I can't believe the benefits of that would outweigh stopping and starting a production team like that.

I suspect we might see these delivery dates converging more closely together (varying based on time from port-to-dealer) over the coming weeks.

/end wild speculation
They are mix production mode, every other Subaru model made in same factory at the same production line.

Pretty sure they've knocked off for the weekend. Mine has been "build in progress" for about 48 hours now :-D

The guy from Toyota (that called me to confirm the order) said late August/early September.
If you follow the instructions in post 1, you might be able to see a more accurate estimated delivery. Thanks.

For those of us expecting a 23rd June delivery I have been reading the GR Yaris threads and trying to learn about Marine tracking :)

Based on this page

I think "our" ship is "Michigan Highways" that left Nagoya on 27th April and due in Portbury 26th May

My left factory date was also 27th April

This ship is currently moving at 16 knots and due in Suez 16th May.

That's my guess anyway!

Well this is super exciting - my left date is the same - how did you get from there to the ship Sherlock?

Added some screenshots.

I read that its takes up to 3 weeks to prep cars once arrived in Bristol so looked at end May/June arrivals in Bristol - just two Japanese ships.
Although I see there are other non Japanese flag vehicle carrier ships also owned by OS-K due a bit later but from different Japanese ports.

As I said guesswork but I will keep an eye on that ship :)

yeah and it says it takes 15 hours to build the car! It'll be about 3pm in Japan when we get up tomorrow and I'm assuming not a Bank holiday over there so it would be nice to see it moving on tomorrow 🤞

Looking at the GR Yaris forum, it looks like cars can be stuck in “build in progress” for a couple of weeks, quite possible they build them in 15 hours but then have them in the car park waiting for the next ship.

I seem to remember getting updates over the weekend on my GRY but when I checked the shipping forecast, the boat it was on had already left port (one member on the forum listed all the ship schedules for around that time) so there must be some lag or delay in the info getting onto MyT.

The longest part of the whole transport phase was having the car sitting at Portbury Docks then Derby for several weeks.
