GR86 GR86 Delivery Tracking and Collection thread

I don't think anyone definitely knows what the deal is on the new batch, to me it certainly has a feel of reallocating cancelled orders from the initial batch as they are leaving quickly after ordering as though they have already been built and they are now matching those built with the new orders. Just my 2p.

I and several others have had exactly this. Your dealer won’t be calling that soon, as it will go to the depot first, so it will still be several months yet. Have Toyota GB not given you an ETA?
Phew! Thanks. Not called me yet - I called them on Friday for some local GR dealer info - they said they would call this week but might be a couple of days (v busy)

Had my test drive yesterday and was chatting to a couple salesman, they think it’s a new allocation rather than cancelled orders given the amount of cars they’ve sold. They think the UK is being prioritised given the rest of the world will be able to sell beyond 2023/24 and given the demand here it’s make sense but who knows. What I do know is that I’m delighted that I’ve placed an order and the test drive confirmed what I hoped the car would be, just a waiting game now. Just had a call from Toyota confirming my order, told my eta is 10th August. Which is quicker than expected guessing the extra allocated cars have already been or are almost built.

Just got confirmation from TGB, mine's on the 'Goodwood', Can only get an ETA to the Suez canal (unless anyone knows a better way of tracking than Marine traffic?), which is 11th July - so that's good. TGB give an estimate of mid Sept to be at dealer.

Has anyone else had trouble getting a test drive? I phoned up my nearest available demo today and they have said that I’d need to swap my collection location over to them if I want a test drive. Doesn’t seem right to me?! They are the same franchise (Steven Eagell ) not sure if this is common practice? But they asked me to contact Toyota GB to swap over my collection dealership…not sure I want to do this but at the same time I’d like to test drive.!

Mine is through Steven Eagell and a different branch to my collection location offered me a test drive.

Is it because they get paid a fee for handing the car over? It's this agency style sales process that Toyota will eventually adopt for all their cars.

What absolute horse-sh*t! So would I have to swap my collection location from Scotland to Portsmouth if I had a test drive down there? They're at it for sure. I'd try another dealership and just casually enquire as to whether they had a GR86 for a test drive, as you'd heard that more maybe coming to the UK and you want to see if it will be right for you. Don't bother telling them that you already have one ordered online, that's none of their business...

I feel some dealerships really don't want you driving them so they can sell with minimal miles for maximum profit next year. My local one was the same but fortunately they are already my nominated collection dealer (and that was Listers)

For online orders Toyota GB manage orders, vehicle registration, finance (all the admin). The supplying dealer receives the car from Burnaston, PDI it, fit any extras you have agreed locally eg dashcams / spoilers etc, checks your ID when you collect and hand over the car.

I believe the dealership receives something like £500 per car to cover costs.
