I was same as you, bit undecided on colour. Was thinking of a dark blue or silver. In the end went with white. So I was still thinking maybe I made mistake and should change it. But I did stick with white. Now I have got her in white, and she looks great. I’m pleased with my colour choice , she gives me classic car vibes . Then again, this car is all about driving, gives me a smile per mile. Whatever colour you choose, is the right one.

I think this is very normal for things we are passionate about. My other love besides cars is guitars.. and it's the same story there as well :)

Silver I think is the perfect combination of understated and still flashy.

I regret not going silver... but tbh I will wrap this in a green in the next year anyway. Bright or racing green that is the question.

3M Gloss Green Envy is my current choice...

Interesting.. how long do these wraps last, and whats the typical cost? Would a couple of stone chips on a wrapped car look too odd?

You can get them for around £1500-2k mark but don't.

Find an approved and accredited 3M wrapper... you'll pay a premium but it actually then comes with an 8 year warranty. A lot of the places will quote 8 year guarentee on 3M products.... but its only from Approved installers... small print. As for life... well minimum of 8 if installed correctly and 3M, other vinyls differ. Personally, Id only use 3M.

Stone chips are just the same as normal paint really, although I'd say wrap is more protective... has to be quite the impact to get through the vinyl tbh. It's quite unlikely. Plus you protect your actual paintwork underneath!

On our cars you're looking at £2,750 - Including Ceramic Coating after (about £350 for ceramic as no paint correction is necessary)

I know there will be no disappointment for me in choosing white, it looks aggressive dirty...which it is most of the time for me!! and whatever colour the car is...when you park it and walk away from it and look back at it.....there will be a smile!!

Spirited Green Metallic looks amazing on MX5 NC2....would look great to on 86.
I added the sky in Photoshop after I took the pic!! No lightning at Japfest!!

I do like a green car. I think that if green had been available like on the Hakone edition GT86....

Yeah a real shame there were no interesting colours...

The blue is a bit obnoxious to me, plus I already had it on my GT86 blue edition!

So its essentially PPF equivalent (both in terms of price and protection) + color of choice for 8 years? What happens after 8 years - does the wrap color fade or it needs to be removed? Assuming you have the car back in the original color after that, which would still be as good as new. Any other cons to be considered?

Yeah I'd say so... if you install it at a proper 3M installer, approved etc, yes. Some cowboys do it, it could leave your original paint terrible... or pull off large chunks of the paint! So yeah like everything, you get what you pay for in life tbh.
Negative is you have to tell your insurer and the DVLA, so expect a small increase to insurance costs.
 
I’m glad I changed to silver. I think it shows the lines really well and looks a bit more mature.

A neighbour has an M3 with a wrap and he didn’t go for the cheapest option. It’s been on for 18 months and in my opinion looks very worn, it has never looked as sharp as a painted car. But maybe he paid a lot for a poor quality job?

Technically it not an equivalent in protection as vinyl is generally 3-4mils (0.1016mm) in thickness where as PPF is generally 8mils (0.2032mm) in thickness, so PPF should offer double the protection of vinyl.

Using 3m as an example their vinyl is 90 microns (or 0.09mm) in thickness, as documented here:

Their PPF is 7.5 mil (0.19 mm) in thickness, over double:

You can now get coloured PPF as well, if you want that extra protection.

I have 10 year no claim, and TUK still quoted me £1550 to insure GR86! :)) As a comparison, Admiral insures both my cars for around £700....

Worth the wait!
Only sad thing is that the dealership scratched the bumper(I saw it before signing the docs, so it has been received with that scratch in the notes), will need to revisit them at some point in the next few week.
 
Mine has arrived at the Dealers yesterday for March collection, plenty of time to add the Reversing sensors & activate the door openings, windows etc.
Going in on Friday to see it. No mention of wanting any money yet!

The same thing happened to me. It happened during the install of the reverse parking sensors. The dealership were good about it though. The had it repaired/resprayed within a week.

No swag or anything like that, no "ceremony" haha, but the car itself is on a different level.
Sales woman told me that the car was pretty much all white due to the packaging, which is unlike other new cars they receive.
