Hi Everyone - it looks like Toyota is continuing with the same old bland colour choices and personally I think this new GR86 deserves better and customers deserve more choice but that's unlikely. When I get my new GR86 I think I'm either going to get it resprayed the colour I want or maybe consider a full gloss wrap. I've been trying the online 3M Restyling Studio facility which has a GT86 to experiment with and here are some results. Anyone else have comments about the colour choices Toyota are limiting us to? Even the Brass Gold on the Yaris Cross or the Ginger Beige on the Aygo X could be extra cost options Toyota could offer just to give customers more choice. Getting the right colour is important?

Toyota usually puts up the best color choices in my opinion. I like color blends from white to black over some silver and grey. Add a in your face red and a great lively blue and I am happy.

Oh wait, that's exactly the offered colors :LOL:

To be honest, all these yellow-ish, brown, gold, bronze, brass, ginger kinda things would make me ill. Absolutely not to my taste. So unfortunately/ fortunately toyota matches my but just didn't matches your color taste than. 😕
 
I think the light blue - used on the old club edition looks lovely on the GT86 / GR86.
 
on the GR86 I'd say Red (track bRed) neptune blue is great as well, so is white but... da red wunz go fasta.
 
It's all down to personal taste and we're all different but I just wish Toyota would give customers more colour options. I'd be happy to pay a premium to get the right colour from the factory and not settle for second best. Scroll through Autotrader used GT86 and it's the same old bland colours - nothing jumps out at you yet other manufacturers can give much better choices on their sports cars.

I have been buying Toyotas for 20 years now and that has been my biggest and possibly only complaint. Lousy colours - grey, black, silver, dark blue, moroon, white. Other makers had lovely metalic colours. I have had more red cars over 40 years than the others put together so when the GRY had a deep red metalic there was only one choice for me - love at first sight. If they want more younger buyers they need to offer a better choice of colour.
 
Does anyone know if Electric Blue is actually the same as Neptune Blue in the States? I think the latter is solid but Electric is listed as pearlescent?

This is something that I am also interested in. Seems strange putting down money on a car colour that I have not actually seen, but there you go.

Just to add to this, the GR dealer said that the Electric blue was at Goodwood and it was 'more white/silvery' and different to the Club Series Blue which is flat, which is also how the Neptune Blue has been described in the US.

Was anyone at the Goodwood launch and can confirm?
 
Given they are asking a grand for it I’m leaning towards it being a different colour. If it’s anything like the below (the Supra) then I won’t be disappointed.

I’m pretty certain it’ll be the same as Neptune. I think they just charge it at the same price as a pearl paint and mislabelled it as such.

I’d Say it‘s “inaccurately described” pearlescent paint has mica in the mix to reflect the full spectrum of light and give the colour variations in certain light/angles. AFAIK there is none in Electric Blue , the Polish brochure translates into English for Ignition Red and Electric Blue as “special varnish” which is probably more accurate, some sort of different clear coat 🤔 Toyota will no doubt have some “creative“ words to Explain this 🤣
 
It's a shame that the only free colour option is the colour choice I would never make again. Black cars are impossible to keep clean unless garaged and only used on dry summer days. :ROFLMAO:
 
I'm guessing but if a solid white had been the FOC (as per GRY) the colour split would have been quite different 🤔
 
So I found the following video showing a US spec in Trueno Blue (Sapphire Blue in the UK) and I think it shows a pretty decent representation of the car. I've ordered one in this colour and I was wondering if I'd made the right choice as the lighter colours seem to work better with the black wheels and mirrors.
I think I've made the right choice though, I'm guessing it will look even better in real life.
