The Yaris had it's first intermediate service today (6k) - all good, but what did surprise me was the wear on the rear tyres.

We are not talking massive differences, but the wear rate on the rears is more than the fronts.
As stated it's running 255/35/18 tyres.

Curious to know what others have found, especially those who do more mileage.

I can't say the same for my car. The front tyres are wearing a bit more quickly than the rear ones (not by a huge margin at all but certainly noticeable if you measure it).
I'm still running stock PS4S in 225/ 40 - 18.
The alignment has been checked and I'm running a bit of negative camber at the front. I personally like track mode but the car also sees a bit of use in sport mode from time to time.

Hi. It sounds like it would be a good idea to get the whole four wheels checked out for proper alignment. Had mine check very early on and the rear was out. Had it put right by the special garage plus more camber at the front. Made a big differance.

Sounds like an alignment issue, or you've being doing lots of launches in sport mode.

is there any good setting for standard performance suspension ? I need to do an alignement too soon and want to have some values that Imcan tell the mechanic

Could this be constant driving in sport mode 30/70? Mine is a couple of thousand short of 6k miles. For a little perspective our Cooper S front wheel drive only has 5.5 mm on the fronts at 18k miles and 6mm on the rears Pirelli run flats.

13k here, just had my 12k interim service

F 2.5/3
R 3.5/3.5

99% of the time the car is in sports mode or track mode.

Could be, I only ever drive in sport mode.
Pressures are normally 2.2 / 2

Alignment will happen once I decide whether to lower it or not.

Just noted in couple of cars here who have done few laps on track - outer (or inner) edge seems to wear out quite easily.
Not sure if this is due to too low camber or too low tyre pressure but to me it feels bit weird place for a tire to wear. The only reasoning I've come across is that tyre pressure is too low and tire edge is not able to take the cornering forces?

Seems to occur most in front?
My car had this in inner sidewall, friend in his outer.

What front camber are you both running?

I set my car up with 3 degree camber front and the ‘Lauren ‘ settings from the old site ! In my 19700km round Aus trip I completely
Knackered my spare set of Dunlop Max . In retrospect I should have lessened the
Camber for the long high speed abrasive surfaces we travelled over as both fronts were worn ++ inside and on the markers across the tread . The rears were on the markers and flat worn .
My Michelins are wearing well but I am now back on my Dunlop Direzza 3s and very happy although they are noisy but amazingly OK in wet other than heavy rain ! It is great to have a second wheel set and frankly the fancy wheels are ok but in normal road use will inevitably get scuffed!

My fronts were through to the wire on the inside 5mm at around 9k miles, 2-3mm across the rest of the tyre and standard geo. Rears had 3-4mm across them but Toyota were trying to tell me to replace them so beware of their overzealous readings!

I've since set up the geo, which has made it a bit more pointy and has got rid of any understeer on the hill passes i regularly go for drives over. I will be keeping a keen eye on tyre wear!

Out of interest... got a link for the Lauren settings?

They are on the original site . Quite early on .Lauren is now a adjudicator or what ever Zookeeper on this site!! She obviously is a top steerer and has people who know how to set up cars advising her !

Haha!

I run 2.5 neg camber front and its 1.45 on the rear.

Toe is parallel on the front and rear is just a slight toe in set to the minimum within OEM spec range at 004. RRG Macclesfield use my settings.

On PS4S I got about 15K out of them, around 12K on F1 SS.
