GR Yaris GR-Yaris Rally2

Home turf baby
Well its same snow as in Sweden. Gryazin P4 in ’national’ class with scoda

there was debate in Monte if car has enough power but at least in Arctic rally fast stages it appears to be sufficient (Kalle's average speed on SS3 was 139.2km/h).. Sweden can of course be different.

If it was discussed there, could it be a different thing on asphalt ? On snow and ice it definitely has the power

Mikko Heikkilä, Currently P2 (+5.2s) in SM1 Arctic Lapland Rally.

I think that J-M Latvala maybe gave the best evaluation about the current potential of GRY Rally2 after the first two competition in 2024.
He told that Rally Monte was for many reasons the worst place to push in a new car, because in this rally (particularly when it's a dry one, like this year) the asphalt conditions can change dramatically in a matter of a few meters, and you are adding the lack of confidence in a new car to the confidence that is missing even for the best drivers through this kind of rally.
The Arctic Rally was a very important test instead, because the only real doubt about this car's performance was about speed in very fast rallies (due to the 3-cyl engine), and the Arctic rally is a very fast one, even if on snow.
Now we know that the speed is there, and the most important question mark about this car already got a much comforting answer, by now.

The Swedish Rally coming up this weekend will be a unique WRC event for Toyota Gazoo Racing World Rally Team...
There's 7(!) GR Yaris Rally2 coming to start, and 4 GR Yaris Rally1 🙌 🏁

It does not have the full power because of the Škoda Motorsport protest against the 2mm extra valve stroke for 3pot engines. Now there is a problem with proper flush and the engine is overheeting;-/ They know they would not have a chance before and Toyota have to start over with the engine tune.

How you can protest as valve lift is as defined in Rally2 technical regulations? Skoda should protest FIA setting such regulations, not Toyota from following them.

Not sure how, but it has been changed not long ago and the wind is blowing from Škoda/VW.

TGR seems to make nice reality video what rallying' is about - maybe they want to puff amateur racing now with new rally2
there's also short section from TGR WRT GR Yaris WRC.

Interesting, rules need to be fair though. Always an issue when necessary to translate to a different technical concept.
In this case, it depends how the fewer cylinders in the GRY gain the additional displacement. If it is purely by increasing bore, the added surface area in the cylinder head will allow for larger valves to compensate for the fewer number of valves.
However if the piston stroke is increased procentually, which I think is also the case, a similar % increase in valve lift should be allowed. But pretty sure this isn't 2mm...
