Hey folks!
New 2026 Gen2 DAT GR Yaris in Cape Town. Been a sometime petrolhead for a few decades, turbo NB Miata, regular NA Miata, 2002 Bugeye WRX and now the Yaris in terms of fun cars. My heavy clutch days are over (thanks for the fun, left knee!) but I am actually enjoying the auto a lot, it seems to fit well with the Rally/Tech vibe of the Gen 2.
What a little rocket! 150kms left of break in so hitting some redline pulls at fairly open throttle and I can see this thing just wants to move. A bit noisy in cabin and the motor is not the most pleasant sounding necessarily (no offense), but chuck this thing down a canyon road and you forget anything else. It almost needs to be driven in anger.
New owner notes, Sport+Track or Sport+Gravel is where it's at, unless you're just dying a slow death in traffic.
