GR Alps trip 2023 - Initial thread

Morning folks. Yes! We have a full list. I’ll update the initial post when I get to a PC.
To anyone on the reserve list, please keep an eye on this thread, as in my experience there will be one or two who may not be able to make it through unforeseen circumstances, and then there’s always a chance for next time!
Can those on the definite list please PM me your phone number so that we can set up a WhatsApp group for quicker communication
I’ve more or less finalised the route, and am currently waiting for bids from hotels from group booking sites , but as the dates are a fair way off this will take a while.
I’ll keep posting updates when relevant, but don’t panic if things go quiet for a little while

Sorry to jump in, you'll have a brilliant journey. If you are "ahead of time" going to Baden-Baden you might do a short detour and visit my place for a coffee (leave the Autobahn in Bruchsal, direction Bretten, coffee place in Neulingen-Nußbaum - approx. 30 minutes from the Autobahn). After the stop in Neulingen you have to drive approx. 1h to Baden-Baden (Autobahn) or approx. 1:20h using country roads (North of Black Forrest).

Hi Fred. Unfortunately, on our journey down we will be approaching from the direction of Saarbrucken, so your destination is a little out of the way following a long day's drive.
However, our return journey takes us up to Pforzheim before we use the Autobahn, so a small diversion to visit you would be easy. If you can PM me a full address I'll add it to the route and let you know an approximate time for our arrival. This would most likely be Friday 23rd June

Right folks, here's where we are with this...
Of the original 10 attendees, one has faild to respond to all attempts to contact, and has therefore been removed from the list.
I started working down the reserve list in order, which I thought would be the right way to do it.
Top of the reserves kindly responded in good time, but is sadly now unable to make the trip
Second on the list has not, as yet, replied. I'm giving them another 24 hours to do so, and then opening it up to the rest of the list, first to respond gets the free slot
So, first from the reserves to post on this thread after 4pm tomorrow is IN, unless @Sly comes forward in the meantime.

I don't mean for this to sound rushed, but I'm wanting to get the hotels & crossing booked in good time, and therefore need some personal info via our whatsapp group.
If there's no further interest before midnight Sunday then we'll simply go as a group of 9 cars

It is. We have the full 10 cars, 16 people, hotels booked, deposits paid.
But... no doubt this will happen again next year, and as many times as is necessary.
When the photos and videos start coming through I suspect the list for next year will be quite large

Would it be possible to publish the itinerary? Not in detail, I'm obviously not looking to invade anyone's privacy, but a general overview of the route? I'm planning an Alpine trip for later in the year and keep changing my mind about routes etc!
