GR Yaris Front tow point

Pardon my French but how the hell do you get the front grille tow point cover off? The book says insert a scewdriver with a rag on it and prise it off. How 21st. century that is. i can't even get a 6 thou feeler gauge in never mind a srewdriver. I'm wondering about drilling a small hole in the plastic to get a hook in to pull it off. What has everybody else done?

I use trim removal tools.
Start at the bottom right corner and when you have a slight gap put another tool in then work up

It feels like it’s going to snap but should be ok. They’re very hard brittle feeing plastic

My trim tools just bent. Ended up with the small blade screw driver and once the was started wedged a trim tool in and kept moving. Finally got fingers in a pulled and while I expected it to snap it came off. Leaves a gaping hole.

Thanks for advice I still haven't shifted it broken 2 trim tools, I've even drilled a small hole in the return edge so it doesn't show and put a hook to pull it off still no joy. I'm now thinking those sucker thingy's they pull dents out with. For sure once it's out it's getting a hole with a rubber plug in line with the tow hook threads. you have to have the tow strap fitted on track so I've got till Oct. 9th. Anybody got a Manchester Srewdriver!??

Screw driver in a cloth and lots of pulling. They are hard to move.

Can’t you push it out from behind ?

If you pull the grille out slightly with one hand you will see the join open up a bit and allows you to the a tool in better

Thanks to all for suggestions and advice. A visit to Toyota dealer, one salesman and 2 mechanics and it's off. I've now modified the cover so it's now a 30 second one man job!!! The rear cover isn't bad as you can get your hand up behind the bumper to push it off.

Careful your finger doesn't just go through the bumper though, they seem so thin.

The covers are only about £40 it might be worth buying one and cutting a hole in it if you regularly do trackdays and keep one

Not £40 anymore. Also require painting if you want it matched. Close to £70

I did that ...you need a pretty large hole though

It's too thin to make a bucket from.
