GR86 Flat battery after being parked for 2 days

Yeah, battery at 2v isn't good. I've had 30days without issue previously and as can been seen on Google, my case is not uncommon.

I went and ordered the Yuasa YBX3031 which is 20AH larger than the standard 48AH that we get standard. Hopefully this will give me more 'standby' time.
 
Wondering how many of the second batch were sat in storage for an extended period - mine sat idle for more than two months waiting on parts and false promises from Toyota.

Inactivity never good for battery performance so I dug my heels in, insisted Toyota provide a new battery which they did.

Doesn’t prove anything but I haven’t had any issues with battery life/charge.
 
It might be worth checking if there is any parasitic drain. Mine sat for 3 weeks in the depth of winter without being touched and fired up no problem.
 
I have a theory the hot weather this week accelerated the drain on the already weak battery.

I bought a battery monitor thingy from Ali Express.

Heat will do the opposite. Batteries don't like cold weather, it increases their internal resistance and reduces the ability to deliver power.
 
I know about cold cranking but I also think the heat will kill a lower than ideal voltage battery. In HK for example, you'll be lucky to get more than 3yrs from a car battery even if OEM factory fitted, whilst here, a battery will easily lasy 5yrs. So I always assumed it was down to the ambient temp.

Yeah your right, extended exposure to higher temps will definitely shorten it's life.

What about power drain from the unit itself, my brain is thinking we don't need to add more things that drain power.

It will be temporary in my case, I want to measure over 1 or 2 months while I decide if I get a lighter battery and what specs would it need
 
I've charged mine up and it's dropping like 0.03-0.08 a day. Dunno why it went flat....
 
Just found this topic.

My March 2024 GR86 sat for 90 days without being touched, keys nowhere near the car and also in battery saving mode and it started first time.
 
I think it might be down the the keyless entry. If you switch it off, the battery last longer. That's the only conclusion I have .
 
My car is left sitting 4 to 6 weeks at time without disabling anything and it starts every time without any issues. I think some people got bad battery batch.

I thought switching off keyless entry only works on the key, not on the car.

Therefore it's always enabled on the car.

You’d need to use the door method to properly disable keyless entry on the car itself. It stops the car polling the key, so the fob has to be pressed manually, as well as requiring the fob to be touched against the start button to fire the ignition. The same method is used to re-enable the system when you require it.
