Got my GR86 back in January, still haven’t posted pics yet… 😂

Decided to get an oil change at just shy of 1200 miles, asked the guy at the desk if they can sign the service book to say oil has been changed but was told “no we can’t sign or stamp the book at all because it’s not a proper service”.
Am I dumb in thinking they would do this?
Just seems a little strange to me 😅

I've never had that response with any of my cars/motorcycle! Well if they won't/can't etc still get it done and make sure you have a letterheaded receipt marked paid and enclose it in your service book .... that'll do the trick 👍

How much did you pay if you don't mind my asking? I've been quoted £150 Inc vat for oil and filter change by my dealer.

My dealer wouldn't either. I provided my own oil and filter as I wanted to use millers. Only paid the £60 labour to do it. Oil and filter with washer was about £60

Ah I can see the issue here.

You went to a dealer.

Go to an indy, it will be cheaper, they will use common sense and if using genuine parts the warranty will remain intact.

I've done just that. Went to my trusted garage to do the first oil change, done whilst I was there, so I was able to inspect the drained oil for any signs of metal shavings and RTV, and we did a fairly thorough rust inspection of the undercarriage whilst it was up on the ramp.

Labour was £40, Millers oil was £48 and the OEM Subaru filter with washer £12. £100 for the peace of mind, as Toyota would tell you it's not needed.

I’ve never had that response either which is why I thought I was being dumb, as to be fair it’s the first time I’ve changed the oil after run in miles, and yeah I ended up just keeping the invoice 👍
