Hi all,
I am probably right at the back of the queue for the GR86, probably mid-late 2023 based on order time.
I currently have a BMW E30, that I'm dailying (around 1200 miles a month). Currently at 64k miles.

I am getting anxious with this amount of year-round use in such an old car, with the lingering thought in the back of my mind that something could go wrong, even though its in pretty good nick (all greens on the service, besides the power steering!) I had planned to order a new car at the beginning of this year, so I could enjoy the bimmer for summer before saying goodbye when it got to winter.
I could probably sell for c.£7k, but owning a different car (that wont hold value) for a year just to get rid of it seems like a great way to throw a couple grand down the loo.

Anyone else in a similar boat where they don't know what to do with their current vehicle now some of the wait times are longer than expected? Also if you have any advice, I'd love to hear it!

E30s are extremely mechanically robust and simple cars. As long as it isn't rusty I would keep hold of it - the longer you keep it the more the value will go up (even with another approx 15k miles). Tbh unless you are desperate for space I wouldn't sell it at all!

Pretty much any car you buy for 7k will need some cash throwing at it within the next year / 10k. Stick with what you have IMO - whatever you spend on it in the meanwhile will come back during resale via residuals.

As gooly says, your E30 is a classic.

Look after it and it'll probably go up in value from now, especially with only 64,000 miles.

Thanks guys, nice to have some reassurance.

All this time waiting to see what happens with the order is taking its toll on me!

Think I'll put some money into an undercoat then, if it has to brave another winter!

£7k for a E30 in good condition and low miles sounds a bit cheap.

A friend of mine sold his for his for £12k although that was pristine and a 325 coupe iirc.

Yes, its got a nice dent in the OS Rear panel, and its only a 318i, so not worth as much as the 32x. Not a single optional extra either
