GR Yaris End of production?

Yeah, until I see something from Toyota themselves I’m assuming nothing.

Repeating pub/internet hearsay doesn’t do anyone any good, regardless of intent.

We need some conformation over production ending.
Doubtful it's ending for Japan and Oceana.

But doesn't the EU kick off Euro 7 and Lambda 1 starting this year? It would be very difficult to have a high specific-output DI turbo engine run at Lambda 1.

If the limited info I've read on E7 is correct.

is the euro 7 tighter to euro6 for engine emissions? read somewhere it would be same emissions, just adding the brake dust etc.
edit. lambda 1 seems to be there so this would definitely make it harder to bring new performance engines. but Porsche has it so why not Toyota aswell.

In the UK the books weee never open for general sale. The official wording is this:

Due to exceptional demand, the 2024 allocation of New GR Yaris will be available exclusively through a ballot. Existing GR Yaris customers and those who joined the official UK waiting list prior to it closing in May 2022 were contacted to enter the draw, which is now closed.

We do know that they are working through the list for anyone who has turned their slot down (this list closed a few years back and likely had a lot of people not wanting to commit to a car)

January is normally when Toyota UK find out its annual allocations from head office however with the cars being sold direct from Toyota UK I suspect we will unlikely hear of what that allocation is.

I've talked to Slovakia importer and my dealership recently, importer said that before 2025 it was already grim. For each GR Yaris sale they had to cover it with at least 3 hybrids to pay off the emission fee, obviously this got even more stricter with new regs. Dealership said as well that currently they have no info about new orders and he was kinda pessimistic about it. Obviously take it with grain of salt, its not a confirmation on paper.

I heard from my dealer when i bought my mk2 they had to sell 30 electric cars per GR yaris.
Probably why Norway only got 20 cars in 2024.

I’m not sure how but Toyota UK with only 1 electric car on sale in 2024 managed to come in just under the target set for them which I think was about -120 cars (I believe having a large hybrid fleet helped).

It’s £15k fine per car under the mandate is my understanding from a quick google, so a £1.8m fine for 120 cars and this year the target will be harder.

Not sure, but I heard that Porsche and others will be using hybrid to keep the power up with lambda 1. Or possibly there are exceptions, like selling a certain number of "clean" cars to each "unclean" car? Even here in Japan, things are going to get very strict in the near future...

From what I heard around, Toyota is one of the manufacturer better placed to face the new EU restrictions, since they are selling tons of hybrid cars, and they are one of the fews that increased the overall production in 2024 (and 2025 projections are good, so far).
Offsetting a few hundreds GRYs shouldn't be a huge problem to them.
For sure we can expect continuous increases in price (we already seen one for the Mk2) and less cars available.
I should get soon some info about the situation with order books in Switzerland (or some of our Swiss friends here can sure help better and before than me), while in Italy I don't even try to get any info, they usually don't dare promise anything to anyone...
