GR86 Eibach Pro Kit Lowering Springs on Stock Suspension

Hello esteemed ladies and gentlemen of the GR86 Ownership-World,
have any of you tried the Eibach Pro Kit Lowering Springs on Stock Suspension and may part such wisdom unto me how the experience has been with it?

I live in Germany in a big city and my GR86 is my daily and only car. I quite like the stock suspension from comfort, practicability (never any issues with car parks, bumps) and feel, but lowering it a tad does a lot to its beauty - however, I am a bit afraid the trade-off would turn too negative to my liking.
Admittedly, I regretted lowering my previous car, a F56 Cooper, with H&R Lowering Springs - even though I know these two cars cannot compare, at all...

I have the Bilstein B12 kit, for a short period I had the Eibach springs fitted to the rear dampers only, before later switching to B6/Eibach (fronts were B6/Eibach, I didn't try Eibach with stock dampers up front) if that's any use to you?

What do you want to know? I can show you some photos so you can see what the ride height was with them fitted?

I didn't rate them highly - it just felt like the stock damper was compromised. The ride felt more 'active' .... as in it moved up and down a lot more, typical behavior of lowering springs.

I am sure @MartinT has Eibach springs fitted?

I was afraid of that compromised feeling...in the German GR86 forum they are basically saying to always go directly for qualitative coilover suspension, due to the unavoidable increase of negative tilt in the rear, especially. Which they advise to fix with additional rear control arms. Currently I'm not even tracking it and all of that seems excessive for just wanting to lower it a bit, that's why I was banking on the Eibach Pro Springs being good enough on their own. :whistle:

GR86 Thread 'Lowering - Coilovers and Springs'

I'd like to lower the car a little

Ohlins have some coilovers available but don't seem to be available in the UK yet, they would be my first choice.

What are peoples thoughts on lowering springs, honestly?

Eibach Pro are probably the only ones I'd consider but I don't fancy messing with the dampers as they work extremely well and deal with awful back roads in a way I've not experienced before. I'd imagine you'd lose the excellent small bump compliance available at the top of the damper stroke and end up sat into the dampers travel pogo-ing around like an imbecile.

The stock setup has...

I tried to explain what each setup was - some are B6 front and back with Eibach, others are B6/Eibach front, with the stock dampers with eibach at the rear.

I ended up fixing it with some rear control arms (Swave) which allowed a height adjustment of about 10mm i think.

If I were doing this again I would get coilovers, as well as new rear control arms. One day I might swap them out for Ohlins but thatll be years away.

Lowering springs have never felt good to me, but many people are happy with what they offer.
 
I had the Grow design lower springs for a while, I think with them on, the car rides better than OEM. Tested and devloped by the development test driver of the GR86.

I wanted more bodycontrol and ended up with coilovers in the end but properly designed springs can be ok. The stock dampers on the car are not great and with good aftermarket suspension, you are going to get better ride quality, better body control and more grip.

In terms of rear camber, if you are not slamming it down to the ground. I don't think camber arms are needed,
With the Grow design lowering springs or default ride height with HKS Hipermax S, I am getting about 2.3 degrees.

My street setup, with front 3 deg and rear 2.4 degrees of camber feels perfect. With much improved shoulder wear compared to stock settings
